Pre existing conditions. Many of you have likely overheard someone say recently that, because of their preexisting illness, they will lose their health insurance if Republicans repeal Obamacare.

Yes there has been much disagreement within the GOP about how to handle coverage for people with preexisting conditions, but no Obamacare replacement bill would pass without ensuring a coverage option for such people.

For example, a proposed amendment to the new Senate bill, brought forth by Senator Ted Cruz, would provide insurance companies subsidies for high-risk Americans with pre-existing conditions under Obamacare's regulations. As POLITICO describes in its reporting of the amendment, if insurance companies offer those plans, they could sell cheap plans that are not subject to those regulations”.

Bill’s health care plan, laid out in tonight’s No Spin News, included a suggestion for how he believes the GOP should handle pre existing conditions in their health care legislation.

“It has to be across the board Capitalism when it comes to health insurance companies. However there has to be regulations that those companies have to follow. One of them is preexisting conditions, so if you have cancer you just can't wander around and nobody's going to put you on the rolls. But you have to do it in a fair way. All right. And that is the crux of these bills.”
