President Trump Bans Transgender Individuals From Military Service

President Trump today announced that the U.S. government will no longer “accept or allow” transgender individuals to serve in the U.S. military, citing potential medical costs and disruption to military goals.

Bill said that courts would likely block the new policy, and that eventually transgender individuals would be able to serve in non-combat roles.

“I don't think you can ban transgender people from the military,” Bill said. “I think the courts will rule you can’t do that. But you can within the military assign transgenders to non-combat roles.”

Bill also criticized the Obama-era policy of using taxpayer money to pay the medical costs for transgender soldiers to transition from one gender to another. Bill called the previous policy “so insane I can’t even express it.”

“We shouldn't have to pay for this,” Bill said. “That’s a personal decision. And we shouldn’t have to pay for it.”
