Unfortunately, I have to be Paul Revere. I have to tell you the country is in steep decline. Let me back that up. 20 years ago in June 1992, there were 3,300,000 Americans receiving federal disability payments. Today, 20 years later, that number is a record 8,733,000 workers on disability.

So let me ask you something, is the work place that much more dangerous? Is there some kind of supernatural force lurking on job sites? It seems to me safety rules are much more improved than they were back in '92.

So why has the disability rate increased more than 100 percent? I'll tell you why. It's a con. It's easy to put in a bogus disability claim. In '92 out of every 33 Americans working, one -- one was out on disability. Now that number is one out of 15. More than a 100 percent increase on the taxpayer dime. And that dime is getting a lot smaller.

In 1984, 85 percent of American workers paid federal income tax -- 85 percent. Now? 51 percent pay federal income tax. A decline of 34 percent. Why? Because of social justice, because the feds are allowing Americans who don't make much money to pay no income tax.

Now you might say, well, that's just fair. But the reality is America doesn't have any money, we're broke. And that is eroding our power in a big way.

By the way I want to thank our pal Bruce Tinsley who writes the Mallard Fillmore cartoon strip for tipping me off to the federal tax number.

Right now President Obama and the Democratic Party lead the league in entitlement spending and promoting a nanny state philosophy. But President Bush the younger didn't do much to head that off. So both parties bear some responsibility.

However it is the liberal Democratic machine that continues to promote selfishness, that continues to tell Americans the wealthy should pay all the bills and the less well off should expect free stuff. The disability con is just one of many. You have enormous Medicare fraud, Medicaid chaos all over the place; a huge rise in food stamp use. And President Obama is promising more of the same if he is re-elected.

"Talking Points" believes it's time to go back to a Democrat who actually had the right idea about America. In 1961 John F. Kennedy said this about the USA leading the world toward free prosperity.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOHN F. KENNEDY, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it. And the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY: Now, I want to ask each of the more than eight million American workers currently receiving disability payments from the federal government, each one of them, are you guys honoring JFK's legacy?

And that's "The Memo."

Pinheads & Patriots

Comedian Chris Rock is a funny but bitter guy. On July 4, he tweeted, quote, "Happy white people's Independence Day. The slaves weren't free, but I'm sure they enjoyed fireworks," unquote.

Mr. Rock has earned millions of dollars in America. To dwell on historical wrongs doesn't seem to be productive. Chris Rock is a "Pinhead."
