Awful news for the family of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Apparently he fathered a child with a former employee. That has led his wife, Maria Shriver, to separate from him and, of course, puts a tremendous strain on the couple's four children.

Schwarzenegger says he hid the news from his wife for almost 10 years and only told her when he left his job as governor. There are legal implications here.

Also in big legal trouble, 63-year-old Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the International Monetary Fund. New York City authorities say he sexually assaulted a chambermaid, and the most serious charge lodged against him carries up to 25 years in prison.

Kahn is being held without bail at Rikers Island. The prosecutor says he's a flight risk based on the Roman Polanski case, where France would not send the director back to America to face child sexual assault charges.

But the most important story in the "mighty have fallen" category is Newt Gingrich. The former speaker of the House has angered many in the Republican Party by repudiating Medicare reform and criticizing Congressman Paul Ryan for trying to get that program privatized.

The speaker has always been outspoken, but this time he has alienated some of his core support group, as well as many inside the Republican Party. On Monday in Iowa, Gingrich heard it:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Mr. Gingrich, what you just did to Paul Ryan is unforgivable.

NEWT GINGRICH, FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: I didn't do anything to Paul Ryan.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, you did. You undercut him and his allies in the House. You're an embarrassment to our party.

GINGRICH: Well, I'm sorry you feel that way.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why don't you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself?

GINGRICH: I'm sorry you feel that way.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

If the speaker is indeed on the ropes, that leaves Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and several lower profile Republicans in contention for the nomination.

All in all, a tough day for some very powerful men.

And that's "The Memo."

Pinheads & Patriots

As you may know, Donald Trump says he's now not going to run for president. So what about the entire Trump campaign, was it pinheaded or patriotic? Please vote on BillOReilly.com. We're interested to hear what you have to say about that.

Monday night we showed you Jay Leno's take on President Obama's border speech last week.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAY LENO, HOST, "THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO": President Obama was in El Paso the other day talking about immigration. Did you see what happened during the speech? This is kind of embarrassing. The timing could not have been worse. Show what happened.

BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: And everybody who's down here working at the border, we've answered those concerns. Under their leadership, we have strengthened border security beyond what many believed was possible. They wanted more agents at the border. Well, we now have more boots on the ground on the southwest border than at any time in history.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Well, 83 percent of you thought that bit was patriotic; 17 percent pinheaded.
