Americans are confident in the economy under President Donald Trump despite weak support for him, according to the results of a new poll.
- 48 percent said the country is doing well economically, compared to 22 percent who said the opposite.
- 41 percent said they are strongly against Trump, compared to 18 percent who said they are strong Trump supporters.
- 43 percent said the country is worse off than it was a year ago, with 35 percent saying it is better.
- 42 percent said Trump has changed Washington, D.C. for the worse. Thirty-two percent said he's changed Washington for the better.
- 68 percent disagree with Trump's recent insistence that he is a "stable genius."
- 18 percent said having Trump serve as president makes them feel proud. Forty-four percent said it makes them feel embarrassed.
- 66 percent said they dislike how Trump handles himself personally.
A Gallup poll last Monday found that Trump's approval rating stood at 37 percent.
