It is a sad fact of life in America that if you have to fly someplace, you are absolutely powerless.  Your flight could be canceled without warning, it could be delayed for hours, and when you board, chances are your seat will be uncomfortable in the extreme.

I’m not even going to discuss luggage and security lines.

A few days ago, 41 fifth grade students in Tulsa, Oklahoma arrived at the airport to begin a field trip to Washington DC.  The kids were beyond excited.

Then, American Airlines cancelled the flight.  Sorry children, go home.

Fortunately, a couple of Delta Airlines employees witnessed this horror and the vast disappointment of the kids.  So they called headquarters and Delta sent a plane just for the students who were able to take their trip.

American Airlines, based in nearby Dallas, could have done that but did not.

So, way to go Delta.  I will remember your kindness the next time I book a flight.  I hope you do, too.  We the people should reward good airlines.  Maybe that message will improve things.

See you tonight for the No Spin News.
