How Much Longer of the Lockdown?

Sweden now has more than 1,000 deaths from the COVID virus, and its policy of no lockdown is looking bad. The nation of about ten million people has a worse pandemic problem than its neighbors Norway, Finland, and Denmark, all of which did order business closures.

There is no question that the contagion is so swift and mysterious that people have to isolate themselves. The question is - for how long?

No one has the answer to that question.

But soon, business will have to begin again because entire economies and currencies will collapse if commerce remains shut. And, so, workplace protections will likely be mandatory.

We can expect masks, limits on store customers, open office space where workers are kept far apart, and limits on public seating everywhere. The only thing that might prevent those things is a quick acting medicine that diminishes the infection.

By summer, the USA should be on the road to economic recovery, but inconvenience will be everywhere. The contagion has changed many things and that will continue.
