With the announcement that both Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Monday, the stakes could not be higher.

Testifying under oath in a congressional situation is fraught with danger, as the Judge well knows.  But he is adamant that he did not do anything to the woman now accusing him of “misconduct.”

No outsider knows what really happened 37 years ago.  Yet a variety of people have already convicted Kavanaugh.  Yes, the usual stupid celebrities are on that list but so is Senator Charles Schumer and Governor Andrew Cuomo.  Without examining any evidence, they have publicly stated that Judge Kavanaugh is guilty.

Please remember all of those who make a mockery of due process.  They are undermining perhaps our most important protection - the presumption of innocence.

It may turn out that Kavanaugh, as a 17 year old, got drunk and did something awful.  But it also may be that he is innocent.  In this case, the bar should be high to ruin the man: if reasonable doubt exists after the Senate hearing  - then he is not guilty no matter what the howling partisan mob screams.  Remember, the FBI has investigated Kavanaugh aggressively and found no whiff of this.
