BILL O’REILLY’S ‘KILLING JESUS’ IS AN INSTANT BLOCKBUSTER

First Day Sales Out Pace Previous #1 Best Seller ‘Killing Kennedy’

NEW YORK, Sept. 26, 2013 – Bill O’Reilly, anchor of the no.1 Fox News program, “The O’Reilly Factor,” and author of many previous national bestsellers, has a new book headed for the top of the sales charts: “Killing Jesus: A History,” which had a first printing of 1.2 million books and went back to press on publication day, Sept. 24, for an additional 100,000 copies, it was announced today by Stephen Rubin, president and publisher of Henry Holt and Company. The book was written with Martin Dugard.

“Killing Jesus” had extraordinary sales on the first day that were more than half of the entire first week’s sales for his last no.1 bestseller, “Killing Kennedy.” The new book is the latest in O’Reilly’s best-selling series, which has combined in-print numbers for all editions across print, e-books and audio formats of 8 million copies. The books also have a combined total of 175 weeks on the New York Times best-seller lists and have established him as the leading author of accessible history and the pioneer of a new franchise.

“Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot” (Oct. 2, 2012), and “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever” (Sept. 27, 2011), also written with Dugard, both were no. 1 New York Times bestsellers upon publication. In addition,“Lincoln’s Last Days,” written with Dwight Jon Zimmerman (Aug. 27, 2012) and “Kennedy’s Last Days: The Assassination That Defined a Generation” (June 11, 2013) were national best sellers on The Times’s Children’s list for Middle Grade readers.

O’Reilly has also written many previous no. 1 best-selling books in the categories of memoir and politics including the no. 1 bestseller “A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity.” He is the recipient of many journalism awards including three Emmys. He holds master’s degrees from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and from Boston University.
