Here are the books to check out before summer is completely gone.
  • The Big Bam: The Life and Times of Babe Ruth
    by Leigh Montville

The best biography of Babe Ruth ever written. Compare him to the baseball players of today after you read it.

  • Pegasus Descending
    by James Lee Burke

America's best fiction writer, when it comes to crime novels. Louisiana Detective Dave Robicheaux is back for another adventure. Fun read, and you'll learn something.

  • The Places in Between
    by Rory Stewart

The author walks through Afghanistan, and will give you a good understanding of that chaotic country. A good non-fiction read.

  • Great Pretenders: My Strange Love Affair with '50s Pop Music
    by Karen Schoemer

The author tracks down a bunch of 1950's teen idols, including Fabian and Tommy Sands. If you were around then, this is an interesting book.
