The New York Times issued a retraction Monday over a quote it inaccurately attributed to Bill. In an article on Saturday written by Anne Kornblut, Bill is said to have called the activities of anti-war mom Cindy Sheehan "treasonous." Unfortunately for the New York Times, Bill never made that statement while speaking about her and her ongoing protest near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

This is one more in a long line of distortions by the New York Times about the O'Reilly Factor, but is one which it is being forced to correct. Since Ms. Kornblut never checked with the Factor about this alleged quote, one can only assume she dredged up this quote from some extremist left-wing website.

We've included a link to the NY Times article from Saturday so you can see for yourself.

Here is the text of the Times' retraction:
An article on Saturday about Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar protester whose son died in Iraq and who is camped out near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Tex., quoted incorrectly from remarks about her by Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News television host. Mr. O'Reilly did not call Ms. Sheehan treasonous. His comment, during his program on Tuesday, referring to applause for her cause on an antiwar Web site, was, "I think Ms. Sheehan bears some responsibility for this, and also for the responsibility of other American families who have lost sons and daughters in Iraq, who feel that this kind of behavior borders on treasonous." And on Wednesday he added, "I said some families who also lost loved ones in Iraq believe what she's doing borders on treason."
