O’Reilly Praises Russia Sanctions and Says Merit Immigration Is “Not Going to Fly” 

On Wednesday’s No Spin News, Bill O’Reilly praised the sanctions Congress slapped on Russia and predicted the Trump administration’s new immigration plan would never come to fruition.

President Trump on Wednesday signed into law penalties against Russia for interfering in the 2016 election despite his misgivings that the sanctions would harm his ability to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

“OK, so President Trump signed the Russian sanction thing about Putin, and he said that this hurts his ability to negotiate with Russia but he's going to sign it anyway because if he didn't he would have been overridden, his veto would have been overridden,” Bill said. “Both the House and the Senate want to punish Russia. I'm with them. Putin needs to be punished. Needs to be sent a message that you mess with our democracy, we're going to hurt you. 

“So, I understand the president's point of view that he wants to try to convince Putin to do certain things but Putin intruded on our election. He's got to be held accountable for that.” 

Bill also discussed the new immigration plan endorsed by President Trump that would prioritize skilled workers over other classes of immigrants. Bill said it was unlikely to ever be enacted because of Republican Congressional opposition. 

“The second thing is this immigrant thing where Mr. Trump wants to limit legal immigration and put it on merit,” Bill said. “About a million foreigners a year get green cards to come to the United States. I don't know what the breakdown is as far as how long the wait is, some of it is lottery stuff, some of it is luck of the draw, some of them are online. But Trump wants it on merit, not family business. 

“So, if you're a Ph.D., very successful person in India, Trump wants you. If you're not, if you don't have a skill set, he doesn't want you. This is not going to fly.”
