Obama announces inclusion of GOP ideas in health care bill

New York Times: Trying to outmaneuver the Republicans in the health care debate, President Obama offered Tuesday to address some of their concerns by embracing proposals to encourage the use of medical savings accounts and to increase payments to doctors who treat Medicaid patients.

Mr. Obama announced his plans to work on the Republican suggestions in a letter to Congressional leaders of both parties. But his main point was one Republicans did not welcome: that Democrats would press ahead with comprehensive legislation over the minority party's objections.

In response, the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, warned that Democrats would pay a price at the polls in November. If the Democrats jam an expansive bill through Congress, Mr. McConnell said, "it will be the issue in every single election in America this fall."
