In this episode, Charles Campisi — former chief of the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau and author of the new book Blue on Blue: An Insider’s Story of Good Cops Catching Bad Cops — explains why when police use deadly force, it’s normally for a good reason.  And if not, cops face grand juries just like everyone else.

Campisi also discusses the NYPD’s heavy use of the stop-question-and-frisk tactic, and describes how the NYPD reduced murders in the city by about 85% since the early 1990s.

What was it like to run the Internal Affairs Bureau of the largest police department in the country?  Listen now to find out.
