MS-13 is one of the most vicious street gangs in America. The gang, whose ranks include many illegal immigrants, is known for its gruesome murders, drug trafficking and human smuggling, among other serious crimes.

The group is so dangerous that in 2012 the United States Treasury Department designated MS-13 a transnational criminal organization.

In this episode, we take a closer look at MS-13 and explain why it is so deadly.

First, noted gang expert Richard Valdemar, a retired sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, discusses the origins of MS-13 and its current threat level.

Then Suffolk County, NY Police Commissioner Timothy Sini joins the podcast discuss how his jurisdiction is responding to a string of murders committed by MS-13 members in his jurisdiction.
