The 'Blue Wave'

Between now and November 6, we can expect a series of articles about the “blue wave” that could turn the House over to the Democrats.

The media-blue wave fascination is basically a wish-fulfillment thing, that is the liberal press desperately wants President Trump’s power diminished and, ultimately, that he be driven from office.

So we can expect a new anti-Trump media driven controversy just about every day. The stories will be largely driven by anonymous sources who will accuse the President of all kinds of awful things.

This hate-Trump jamboree will kick into high gear when Bob Woodward’s book is released on September 11. Mr. Woodward is indeed a fortunate son as he will receive massive round-the-clock media coverage for at least two solid weeks. The more damaging his revelations are against Mr. Trump, the more coverage he’ll get.

I actually had to push the release date of my new book, Killing the SS, back to October 9 because Woodward will dominate book news so dramatically in September.

The Trump administration plans on having the President tour the country extensively between now and Election Day, taking his message directly to voters. We can expect the President will succeed in getting new economic deals with Mexico and Canada, perhaps China as well.

Realistically, a robust economy is about the only thing that could crack the blue wave. Remember, the Obama administration got crushed in its first mid-term election despite a fawning press trying to help Mr. Obama.

President Trump would be wise to put emotion aside for next two months and concentrate on accomplishments rather than feuds. He should have a new Supreme Court Justice, and a booming economy to bolster him.

It is possible that the blue wave will engulf him. But the President does have a fighting chance to keep democrats at low tide. It’s a chess game at the highest level.
