Trump Goes Off-Script at CPAC, Calls Mueller Probe “Bull----"

President Trump denounced Democrats as the party of "the socialist nightmare" (echoing Bill’s latest column “The Woke Nightmare”) and took on his "sick," ''lunatic" and "dirty" opponents.

“You know I’m totally off script right now and this is how I got elected, by being off script. And if we don’t go off script, our country’s in big trouble, folks, because we have to get it back.”

He also talked about the Green New Deal, saying the Democrats should definitely run with that idea, to raucous laughter:

Sanders Officially Launches Campaign, Vows to Defeat ‘Dangerous’ Trump at Brooklyn Rally

Bernie Sanders officially kicked off his campaign Saturday with a rally in his native Brooklyn, New York.

"Thank you for being part of a campaign which is not only going to win the Democratic nomination, which is not only going to defeat Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in modern American history ... I want to welcome you to a campaign which says, loudly and clearly, that the underlying principles of our government will not be greed, hatred and lies," Sanders said. "It will not be racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia and religious bigotry."

Trump to Sign Executive Order Requiring Colleges to Support Free Speech on Campus

“Today I am proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research dollars,” the president said at his CPAC speech.

“If they want our dollars, and we give it to them by the billions, they’ve got to allow people like Hayden and many other great young people and old people, to speak, free speech,” said Trump. “If they don’t, it will be very costly. That will be signed very soon.”

Trump was referring to Hayden Williams, the conservative activist from Turning Point USA who was punched in the face at UC Berkeley last month.

NBC News/WSJ poll: 2020 race will be uphill for Trump, but he has strong party loyalty

According to a new poll from NBC News/WSJ, just 4 in 10 voters say they would re-elect Trump next year, 58% don’t think he has been truthful about the Russia probe, and 60% disapprove of his National Emergency.

However, the president enjoys a high approval rating among the Republican Party, and Americans remain confident in the economy, both working in Trump’s favor.

“It’s a 45-55 against the president at this stage of the game,” said Democratic pollster Peter Hart.

U.S. Hits Debt Ceiling

The U.S. officially hit its debt ceiling Saturday.

Congress had suspended the debt ceiling in February 2018, and it went back into effect Saturday. According to a report released by the Congressional Budget Office, the deadline to raise or extend the ceiling can be pushed to the fall, setting up another potentially nasty battle in Congress.

If the debt ceiling is breached, it would have disastrous consequences for the US's credit rating, the global economy, and stock markets around the world, according to the report from Business Insider.
