Trump MS-13 Round Table

President Trump traveled to Long Island on Air Force One with Rep. Peter King (R-NY) and State Reps. Lee Zeldin (R-Shirley) and Dan Donovan (R-Staten Island) to host a roundtable discussion on immigration and the impact of the MS-13 gang. The event was by invitation-only and featured federal and local law enforcement officials and victims of the transnational gang.

Trump was speaking to law enforcement officers on Long Island, home of Suffolk County, which has seen 17 killings linked to the gang over the last 18 months. Federal officials have charged suspects in only two of the homicides, including the September killing of two teenage girls from Brentwood.

In his speech, Trump mentioned that case and elaborated on other crimes attributed to the gang in graphic terms.

"They butchered those little girls. They kidnap. They extort. They rape, and they rob. They prey on children. They shouldn't be here," Trump said. "They stomp on their victims. They beat them with clubs. They slash them with machetes, and they stab them with knives. They have transformed peaceful parks and beautiful, quiet neighborhoods into blood-stained killing fields," he went on. "They're animals. We cannot tolerate as a society the spilling of innocent, young, wonderful, vibrant, people — sons and daughters, even husbands and wives. We cannot accept this violence one day more."

Illegal Immigrant Caravan Update

452 people from the migrant caravan that traveled from Central America to enter the United States seeking asylum have made it into the country.

The caravan started with an estimated 1,500 people from Central America, some got turned back in Mexico, others were granted protections in Mexico, but nearly 600 reached Tijuana. Of the 452 total, 122 were arrested for jumping the border, while more than 330 went through official ports of entry and applied for asylum, U.S. officials told Congress on Tuesday May 21.

Despite the Trump administration announcing very publicly a zero-tolerance policy for the caravan, authorities have announced charges against only a small fraction of the 122 people who jumped the border. Homeland Security officials weren’t able to give an exact number of people who did face charges, but the Justice Department only announced 11 prosecutions in California and U.S. Customs and Border Protection pointed to a few others in Texas.

Federal officials now say that about 205of those asylum seekers have cleared the low-standard initial credible fear screening, increasing the likelihood that those individuals will be released into the interior of the U.S. while they await their asylum hearings.

Court documents filed in California revealed that the agency didn’t lodge charges against mothers who jumped the border with their children or, in one case, a woman who was eight months pregnant—it was not reported how many people that covered in total.

NFL Adopts Policy to Fine Teams if Players and Personnel Don't Stand for National Anthem

The NFL announced on Wednesday that it has adopted a policy that would fine a club if teammates and league personnel did not “stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced in a statement that the policy was approved "in concert with the NFL"s ongoing commitment to local communities and our country."

The policy read: "the 32 member clubs of the National Football League have reaffirmed their strong commitment to work alongside our players to strengthen our communities and advance social justice."

The new policy was adopted at the league’s spring meeting in Atlanta without involvement from the players’ union. It is unclear how players will respond to the new rules.

The new policy states that:

  • All team and league personnel on the field shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
  • The Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the Anthem.
  • Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room or in a similar location off the field until after the Anthem has been performed.
  • A club will be fined by the League if its personnel are on the field and do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
  • Each club may develop its own work rules, consistent with the above principles, regarding its personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

Avenatti's Law Firm Ordered to Pay $10M to Ex-Worker

On Tuesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Catherine Bauer in Santa Ana, California slapped the law firm of Eagan Avenatti (one of Michael Avenatti’s law firms) with a $10 million judgment for failing to pay former colleague, Jason Frank.

The judgment comes after Eagan Avenatti LLP failed to make the first payment on a $4.85 million settlement with lawyer Jason Frank, a one-time partner at the firm.

Michael Avenatti personally guaranteed in December 2017 that it would pay Frank $4.85 million. But he and Eagan Avenatti failed to pay the first $2 million installment that was due on May 14, triggering Tuesday's judgment. The ruling can’t be appealed.

The settlement, reached in December 2017, stemmed from Frank's claim that Avenatti's firm failed to pay him more than $18 million that he was owed as a non-equity partner of the firm, and that Avenatti misstated the firm's profits.

As the case dragged on, Frank reduced his claim to $10 million and the litigants ultimately agreed to settle for $4.85 million. But under the agreement, Avenatti's firm would be liable for the full $10 million if he failed to pay the settlement, according to court records.

Jason Frank had worked at Avenatti’s firm under an independent contractor agreement and was supposed to collect 25 percent of the firm’s annual profits, along with 20 percent of fees his clients paid, according to court documents. Frank resigned in May 2016 after alleging that the firm didn’t pay him millions of dollars that he was owed, misstated the firm’s profits and wouldn’t provide copies of tax returns and other financial documents.

Marquette begs students not to use 'the i-word' for illegals

Marquette University’s department of “Diversity and Inclusion” is encouraging undergraduates to “drop the ‘i-word’” when referring to illegal immigrants.

According to the “Undocumented Student Terminology” published on the school’s website, “not only is the term ‘illegal’ inaccurate, it is dehumanizing.”

“When referring to an individual who is residing in the United Stated without authorization from the federal government, we would encourage you to drop the ‘i-word’ in favor of terms such as ‘undocumented’ or ‘unauthorized’ immigrant,” the university states. Likewise, the school explains that the acceptable way to refer to immigrants with no domestic legal status is by using words such as “undocumented” or “unauthorized.”

“Many people also live in households that are considered ‘mixed status,’” Marquette explains. “A mixed status family is one in which at least one member is residing legally in the United States and at least one member is not. Often, this includes children born in the United States to unauthorized immigrant parents.”

In addition to the Diversity and Inclusion website, the school’s College of Education website likewise suggests that students create a “safe space” for illegals and “deal directly with any derogatory language or behaviors from peers that are rooted in condescending attitudes towards immigrants and use these as teachable moments.”

Gas Prices Surge

At the beginning of May, gas prices hit a level not seen in three years. Gas prices typically increase every spring due to increased driving demand, but the current average is 48 cents more per gallon, an increase of about 20.5 percent!

The summer months will likely bring even higher prices. "While it won't cost motorists as much as it did during 2011 to 2014 [when national averages ran $3 to $4], it will cost them millions more every day versus last year," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) is forecasting that 41.5 million Americans will travel during Memorial Day weekend, the highest number in more than a decade. Despite facing the highest gas prices since 2014, the company expects 36.6 million of those holiday travelers to travel by car.

The national average price of gas has risen by nearly 60 cents over the past year, and five cents since just last week. Gas prices are nowhere near touching the 2008 peak of $4.114, but are still costing American motorists millions more per day to drive than it did a year ago.

Drugs in New York City

New York Post: Junkies are filling Bronx parks with over 5,000 used needles a week

Junkies have been dumping some 5,000 used needles a week in parks across the Bronx — prompting desperate city officials to install dozens of syringe-disposal kiosks in hopes of cleaning up the dangerous mess. There has been a dramatic gain in the number of syringes found in parks in the Bronx in recent years because of the ongoing opioid epidemic, city Health Department officials say. City Health Department officials couldn’t say how many needles a typical addict runs through per day, since it varies by level of addiction, as well as the type and amount of drug injected.

NBC New York: Mayor de Blasio Wants Supervised Drug Injection Sites in NYC

Mayor de Blasio earlier this month threw his support behind a plan to open supervised injection sites for illegal drug users as part of a pioneering yet controversial effort to combat fatal overdoses. The facilities are designed to provide a safe place, away from public areas, where drug users can inject heroin under the watchful eye of medical professionals.

Preliminary data shows there were 1,441 overdose deaths in New York City in 2017. If the plan is approved, Overdose Prevention Centers under a one-year pilot program would open at current needle exchanges in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood, Manhattan's Midtown West and Washington Heights, and Longwood in the Bronx. Trained staff would be available to administer naloxone, an overdose-reversing drug, and addiction guidance counseling.

New York Post: De Blasio edict may have emboldened NYC’s crackheads

More than a dozen druggies openly smoked crack in Washington Square Park early Tuesday, just days after Mayor Bill de Blasio said he wanted the NYPD to stop locking up people for puffing pot in public.

New York Times: Overdoses From ‘Dangerous Batch’ of K2 Grows to 56 in Brooklyn

A drug known loosely as synthetic marijuana, or K2, is an illegal and dangerous drug. A particularly toxic batch was responsible for a mass overdose in Brooklyn over the weekend, sickening at least 56 people and leading to at least 15 arrests since Saturday.

The health department said people sickened by K2 have made 84 visits to city emergency rooms since Saturday, the largest three-day total in the city since July 2016, when there were 130 such visits during a mass overdose near Myrtle Avenue and Broadway in Brooklyn. The intersection also is one of the epicenters of the recent wave of overdoses.

Mail Time!

  • I was very shocked by the story about the boy scouts. Our two sons were scouts, and one grandson became an Eagle Scout and loved every year he was there. He liked to volunteer at the Veterans Hospital and learned many lessons that will help him in life. What is happening to this great country?
  • Bill, it breaks my heart when I see what is happening to this Country of ours. Some people just don't get it. Parents need to wake up and be parents. Discipline is dead and gone. Unfortunately, children are being robbed of their childhood. This whole Boy Scout thing is a disgrace.
  • Bill, it's a shame that there are so few shows like your No Spin News out there for the average person to watch. For me, the mainstream media have become totally irrelevant, and have been for a long time. The problem is that so many people listen to this garbage day in and day out without realizing that there are some honest sources for daily news, i.e., the No Spin News, NewsMax TV, and maybe a few others...even Fox News, with the exception of Hannity, isn't anywhere close to what it once was. This is truly a sad time for journalistic integrity, which over the long-haul, hurts us all.
