Terror Attack in NYC

The suspect, identified as a 29-year-old man from Uzbekistan, was shot in the abdomen by a police officer and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He has been charged in connection to the attack.

Authorities are calling the incident a suspected terror attack. The suspect is believed to have worked alone, law enforcement sources said.

Authorities said today that the suspect allegedly rented the truck from a Home Depot in Passaic, New Jersey, around 2 p.m. According to license plate readers on the George Washington Bridge, he exited the bridge at 2:43 p.m. and drove southbound on the West Side Highway.

According to police, shortly after 3 p.m., the suspect started mowing down cyclists and pedestrians on a bike path near West Houston Street and the West Side Highway. The suspect drove south for about a mile, leaving strewn bodies and disfigured bicycles in his wake.

According to authorities, six victims were pronounced dead at the scene and two more died in the hospital. Twelve were injured, including two students and two staff members on the school bus.

This man got here on the diversity visa program, which is a program that allows 50,000 foreigners to be admitted to the U.S. on a lottery basis. This program says that the people admitted must have a high school education, they can't have a criminal record in their home country and they have to have worked 2 out of the last 5 years. It shows how lenient they are in their assessment of who comes here.

Now right away, President Trump seizes upon this program to say we the country have to have more stringent requirements for people who come here. This has been a Trump theme ever since he ran. OK, and he's getting knocked down in the courts and ultimately the Supreme Court ruled that he could stop people, but the period of time was up and it's a mess. But Donald Trump basically took the terror attack and said we have to change this, we can't have the diversity visa program any more.

I didn't mind President Trump being outraged about how this man got here because that's the story. That's the story. Why was he here? And he was here because of a program that is outdated. After 9/11, the world changed. You can't have a lottery. You've got to know who's coming here and why they're coming and their background.

Trump's tax cuts put on hold

Tomorrow the tax plan is going to be unveiled and this is something that is really important for you. The median income is about fifty-seven thousand in the United States. There are polls that say many Americans are living from paycheck to paycheck. Very few of us have savings for after we retire. So this is really important. But the Republican Party does not seem to be able to sell it in any significant way. So they were supposed to unveil it yesterday and now it's coming tomorrow. Trump has done a pretty good job in his first year. Consumer confidence is very high. It's 60 percent now. It's higher than it's been in 17 years. He's created some momentum and this tax plan would create even more momentum.

What I believe is if this gets passed and the economy then bumps very quickly and dramatically, then Trump and his approval rating is going to go along with it. And he's going to have a good chance to get reelected. And so the press and the Democratic Party, no matter how good the tax cut may be for you, they're not going to get behind it because they don't want Trump to succeed. And that's what's going on.

PC Madness is hurting the country

The Cato Institute which is a libertarian crew in D.C., put out a survey on speech and tolerance. They asked 2300 Americans if a big problem in this country is being politically correct, do you agree? 70 percent of Americans say yes, PC is a big problem. 28 percent say no.

The survey asked which of these two statements come closest to your own opinion, people often call others racist or sexist to avoid debating with them. 61 percent say yes. 37 percent say no. I think it's obvious that the racist card in particular is used to shut down debate.

The next question, which of these two statements comes closer to your own opinion, political correctness helps people avoid offending others or political correctness has silenced important discussions. It helps people, 28 percent. Silenced, 71 percent.

So you guys are getting it. Everybody is getting it. PC madness is hurting the country.

Some Americans feel like this is the lowest point in the nation's history

All right, a recent poll published by the American Psychological Association finds 59 percent of Americans believe this is the lowest point in the nation's history that they can remember. Now that's just insane.

I guess this is just what they can remember because the Great Depression... there have been many, many lower points in American history. The 1930s was just awful for this country. Awful.

And in modern times, Vietnam wasn't great, but this isn't the lowest point. I mean, in the 19th century with the Civil War. I mean, that's got to be the low point, right?

Study shows that people care more about their dogs than other people

A UK medical research charity staged two phony donation campaigns. Alright, these are fake. One with a dog, the other featuring a man. The dog got more contributions so the studies say that humans love dogs more than people.

Do you believe that? Do you believe that humans love dogs more than people? Well, not everybody is a dog owner. But I'll tell you what's in play here. If you are a dog owner, they can't betray you. I guess they can bite you if you're mean to them. But people betray, not dogs. And betrayal is the worst part of the human condition. And we've all been betrayed, every one of us have been betrayed by a person. All of us have. And the pain never goes away. The betrayal pain stays forever.

Mail Time!

  • "Bill, great podcast and I like your motto, take your country back. One thought, should the motto be take our country back?"

Very good letter, very good question, William. It's take your country back because I want everybody to get involved. So, it's your country. Yes, it's our country in a collective way, but the motto is take your country back. It's personal to you. You have to educate yourself. You have to go to the school board meetings. You have to vote. You have to make your opinion known. You have to educate your children. It's your country, so you have a responsibility. You know, I always say this, look. In Dallas and now in Virginia where they are attacking George Washington, you walk into that church in Virginia where they took the memorial in Washington off the wall and you say, are you kidding me? I just read Killing England and you wouldn't have a church like this if it weren't for George Washington, wouldn't have freedom if it weren't for that man. What are you doing? What are you doing? That's the kind of debate that we have to have.

  • "All I can say is thank God for the podcast, so hard to get accurate news about what's happening in America. I rely on your videos to find out what's actually happening without the spin and then to get your insightful analysis. So, thank you, Bill for making a big difference around the world."

Thank you, Sean, for checking us out. And we know a lot of people overseas are watching this and we're going to grow it and we're going to make it really a force.

  • "Bill, great show again tonight. I like your slogan, take your country back. I only wish we had the same kind of slogan for Canada. We're facing the same problems you are. My wife and I watch every night from our home in British Columbia because there's nobody like you in my country."

Well, I appreciate that compliment, Perry. We love Canada. We know it's gone politically correct. But you've got to take your country back too.

  • "Bill, my 8-year-old grandson is top in his grade for reading. I want to treat him to one of your books. I showed him the list and he couldn't decide, so I ended up getting him 3 and he started with Killing Kennedy. Thanks, he's hooked."

Good, good, good. The latest one is The Day the World Went Nuclear, that's off Killing the Rising Sun. Get it for the urchins. They will love these books and learn a lot.
