O'Reilly on How Trump Can Increase His Approval Rating & Accusation Madness in the Media; Interview with Bernie Goldberg
December 19, 2017

Bill began Tuesday's No Spin News with a new CNN poll showing that President Trump's approval rating is still hovering in the mid-30s.  "CNN doesn't really have any credibility at this point," he declared, "but it's an instructive poll.  Donald Trump's approval rating is 35%, which is down from 37% in late September.  35% is Trump's core, those are the people who will like him no matter what he does.  So he's not converting a lot of people over."

With those poll numbers in mind, Bill gave the president some unsolicited advice: "He has to do two things.  First, he has to ride the economy, which will be good in 2018.  And he has to stop with the petty stuff.  Don't pick fights with Kirsten Gillibrand or Morning Joe, focus on things that are bigger to the folks.  If Trump does those two things, his approval rating will go up to the mid-40s, but it'll never be higher because he's Donald Trump."

Bill briefly mentioned the tax reform plan, which he expects to benefit the vast majority of Americans through lower rates and higher child tax credits.  "It's pretty good for working Americans," he concluded.  Bill also advised Premium Members to put stop-loss limits on their stock holdings so that they don't get burned too badly if the market suddenly does an about-face.

Then it was on to the dishonest, money-grubbing lawyer Lisa Bloom, who races toward cameras wherever they may be.  The Hill has reported that Bloom offered a great deal of money to a woman if she would agree to level damaging accusations against President Trump just two days prior to last year's election.  "She offered $750,000 to the woman to say something bad about Donald Trump," Bill groused.  "Where did that money come from?  Ms. Bloom won't say.  And now The Hill has a new article about Jill Harth, who accused Trump of untoward behavior in the 1990s.  But last year Ms. Harth wanted to do Donald Trump's makeup.  She wrote him a series of letters begging him to hire her and telling him he's the greatest guy in the world.  Of course, she's represented by Lisa Bloom!  There is madness happening, there is corruption, and people's lives are being destroyed.  There should be a criminal investigation."

When Bill welcomed media analyst Bernie Goldberg via Skype, the two long-time pals got into a very interesting dispute about the media.  Bill characterized the mainstream media as deliberately dishonest, while Bernie put forth a slightly different take.

This was Bill's very passionately delivered argument:  "I am so angry about the corruption of the American media and how horrible it is.  It has all collapsed and there is nobody held accountable for bad journalism.  The New York Times, Washington Post, and all the networks failed to mention the Lisa Bloom story last week.  This wasn't a 'mistake,' they just don't want those kinds of stories.  Yet these people will never say they are biased, so they are liars in addition to being corrupt.  They're corrupt and they don't care whether they're corrupt!"

But Bernie theorized that many media types have actually managed to convince themselves that they are fair and honest purveyors of the news:  "It's true that they tend to emphasize things that make Donald Trump look bad.  There have been many 'mistakes' in recent weeks and all of the recent mistakes make Donald Trump look bad.  But if you gave lie detector tests to these people, they would say they are not biased and they would pass the test.  I think they are delusional, but I don't think they go into a room and say they are out to get Donald Trump.  It doesn't work that way."

Before departing, and at Bill's prompting, Goldberg immodestly revealed that he has earned 14 Emmy awards for his work at CBS and HBO.

Turning to another episode in the ongoing saga of college madness, Bill reported that the University of Michigan is promoting a two-day seminar at which white students can learn to deal with their whiteness.  "If you go to this seminar," he said, "you can get taught to be not so white and be more in tune with 'social justice.'  This is flat-out racist."

In their emails and message board comments, Premium Members opined on Bill's live Facebook exposition in which he delineated President Trump's positives and negatives.  Bill reiterated that President Trump deserves credit for the booming economy and the defeat of ISIS in the Middle East.  Other PMs expressed their views of the Republican tax package, the ongoing Mueller investigation, and marijuana legalization.

In closing, Bill reminded everyone that there is less than a week remaining before Christmas and there are lots of bargains to be had here at the BillOReilly.com Christmas Store.  Happy shopping, everyone, and we will see you Wednesday.
