HURRICANE HARVEY CONTINUES TO HIT TEXAS

Today marks the 12th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and Texas is doing a pretty good job dealing with the Hurricane Harvey disaster.

Flooding and rain has continued, but so have rescue efforts.

While Houston did have a mandatory evacuation, that’s like an Armageddon. People refuse to believe that the storm will be as bad as predicted or they don’t want to leave their homes and belongings behind.

Today the death toll rose to 15 people, including one police officer.

President Trump takes a look at Texas

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in Corpus Christi, Texas earlier today where they were able to lend moral support and reassurance to victims that the federal government is going to do all they can to help.

But, of course critics came out first thing saying that they didn’t like Melania Trump’s shoes, it never ends.

Later in the day POTUS and FLOTUS traveled to Austin, Texas where they met with Governor Greg Abbott and received a briefing on Hurricane Harvey.

University of Tampa fires assistant professor

Kenneth Storey a former visiting assistant professor at the University of Tampa suggested in a tweet that Hurricane Harvey ‘s destruction is “instant karma” for Texas since they voted for Donald Trump. Storey went on to say that the “good people” in Texas “need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes.”

If you’re going to be that irresponsible while in a position of power then you’re place in a classroom has to be evaluated. The case can be made that this guy went onto twitter, made these crazy comments and is now getting retribution from the university. This worries us about the state of colleges and universities in America, they’re becoming more like propaganda mills.

North Korea fires a missile over Japan

On Tuesday North Korea fired a missile over the Japanese island of Hokkaido which is about 1700 miles away. The missile was an intermediate-range ballistic missile that landed in the water, so no one was hurt, but it’s more proof that Kim Jong Un is trying to show his power to the rest of the world.

After the missile was launched President Trump came out with a statement saying that 'all options on table' and as Ambassador Nikki Haley said earlier today “enough is enough!” So, it seems likely that something will happen to the northern peninsula.

This is just another provocation, Kim Jon Un wants trouble and if he continues with this sort of behavior he’ll find it.

Michael Moore’s Broadway one man show

Michael Moore the controversial filmmaker has a show on Broadway about how President Trump is likely to win the 2020 election. Side note: Moore did correctly predict that Donald Trump would defeat Hillary Clinton in this past election.

Moore goes on to explain his comment saying, “I should say re-appointed, because we will have an even larger population that will vote against him in 2020, but he will win those electoral states as it stands now.

This is just a way for Moore to get attention because no one knows if Trump will run again or who would run against him, but this is what he does, he’s a provocateur.

The show isn’t doing well, the capacity is less than 50%. However, Moore has celebrity supporters such as Christie Brinkley. Why Christie, why?!

The filmmaker continued his diatribe, “The angry white guy is dying out, and the Census Bureau has already told us that by 2050, white people are going to be the minority, and I’m not sad to say I can’t wait for that day to happen. I hope I live long enough to see it because it will be a better country.”

What would happen if you said that about any other race?

Denver City Council passes immigration ordinance: ICE calls ordinance 'dangerous'

On Monday, the Denver City Council passed a controversial immigration protection ordinance in a 10 to 0 vote.

This ordinance will ban city officials from asking an arrested individual's immigration status. The city also will ignore U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer requests and ban ICE from conducting in-person jail interviews without a warrant.

The ordinance prohibits city employees from collecting information on people’s immigration status and the sharing of that information for the purpose of federal immigration enforcement.

The Denver Sheriff Department will have to continue notifying U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of pending releases “to the extent they are able.” But the department will inform inmates that ICE has been notified in those cases.

This is worse than anything going on in California, worse than San Francisco.

GOP Gov. Rauner Signs 'Illinois Trust Act' on Immigration

Gov. Rauner signed into law Monday a measure to prevent law enforcement officials across the state from detaining individuals based solely on their immigration status, and limit local agencies’ cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

The governor signed Senate Bill 31, known as the Illinois TRUST Act, in front of a crowd at the Mi Tierra restaurant in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood.

"Illinois has been welcoming of immigrants for a long time, and this bill will continue that tradition," Rauner said in a statement. "It also makes clear that stopping violent crime will be law enforcement’s mission rather than working on federal prerogatives that a federal court has found illegal."

"Immigrants in our community should not have to feel unsafe when they go to work or take their children to school," the bill's primary House sponsor, state Rep. Chris Welch (D-Hillside), said in a statement. "This legislation will ensure that proper legal procedures are being followed and provide peace of mind to members of our community."

This is almost the same thing that is going on in Denver except this is statewide.

How is marijuana affecting Colorado?

Recently, studies have come in about the use of marijuana in Colorado, which was one of the first states to legalize the drug.

The number of drivers in fatal crashes in Colorado who tested positive for marijuana has risen “sharply” since 2013, more than doubling in that time according to state and federal data.

From 2013 to 2016 there was a 40% increase in the number of all drivers involved in fatal crashes in Colorado.

The number of drivers who tested positive for marijuana use in the same time jumped 145%!

Visits to the emergency room due to marijuana use has risen approximately 40%.

Jeff Hunt from Colorado Christian University weighs in on the growing marijuana epidemic

Hunt and the University have been opposed to social marijuana as well as the legalization of marijuana.

During the interview Hunt said the worst part of marijuana legalization is that 50% of babies tested for having drugs in their system have marijuana in their system. So the fact that 50% of children born in Pueblo, CO, are testing positive is a terrible statistic.

The rate of youths (ages 12-18) in Colorado using marijuana is currently 74% higher than the rest of the nation.

When you legalize marijuana, it trickles down to the kids, the kids start to use it and we’re now learning after various reports that it has devastating effects on a developing brain.
