Great American television personality Dick Clark helped us usher in the New Year for decades as the host of New Year's Rockin' Eve. Prior to that, he spent 30 years at the helm of American Bandstand, a musical variety show that first broadcast in Philadelphia this week in 1952. Dick Clark is often credited with heavily influencing the country's rock and roll landscape and introducing popular music to young Americans.
