Trump’s Meeting with Moon Jae-in

Moon Jae-in, the President of South Korea, met with President Trump at The White House on Tuesday. The meeting was a chance for Trump and Moon to strategize how to keep North Korea on track for denuclearization before a planned summit on June 12 in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump.

The meeting has been called into question, after North Korea suggested it's not willing to give up its nuclear weapons.

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday there was a substantial chance his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would not take place as planned next month amid concerns that Kim is not committed to denuclearization.

“If it doesn’t happen, maybe it will happen later,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “You never know about deals ... I’ve made a lot of deals. I know deals, I think, better than anyone knows deals. You never really know.” Trump said. “It may not work out for June 12.”

The first big test of whether things are truly off track will come this week, when North Korea is due to destroy the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, in full view of international observers and journalists.  The nuclear testing site near the village of Punggye-ri in the northeast of the country has been the site of all six North Korean underground nuclear tests from 2006 until the most recent one on Sept. 3, 2017.

Jimmy Carter’s Comments on the possibility of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize

Former President Jimmy Carter, 93, said that President Trump ought to receive the Nobel Peace Prize if he is able to strike a deal to deescalate tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Carter was interviewed on Politico's "Off Message" podcast saying, “I think that the next mediator, next negotiator—maybe President Trump, I hope—will reassure them that we’re willing to give up some of those things—the threat of attack on them and to lift the embargo. That would be a cheap price, in my opinion, to pay for a cessation of their nuclear program.”

Carter went on to say, “If President Trump is successful in getting a peace treaty that’s acceptable to both sides with North Korea, I think he certainly ought to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Carter said. “I think it would be a worthy and a momentous accomplishment that no previous president has been able to realize.”

Trump “Animals” Controversy

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he was referring to MS-13 gang members when he called some undocumented immigrants “animals” a day earlier, after his remarks prompted a partisan spat online.

“You know I'm referring to the MS-13 gangs that are coming in. I was talking about the MS-13,” the president said in response to a question from a reporter. “So, I'm actually surprised that you’re asking this question because most people got it right.”

The dust-up began last Wednesday during a roundtable on so-called sanctuary cities, when Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims brought up the MS-13 gang while expressing concern about a California law that forbids local authorities informing U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement of undocumented immigrants in the state’s jails. While Mims referred to MS-13, Trump did not explicitly mention the gang.

The White House press office doubled down on the comments, putting out a 488-word release Monday morning titled “What You Need To Know About the Violent Animals of MS-13” that described members of the predominantly Salvadoran gang as “animals” 10 times.

“Too many innocent Americans have fallen victim to the unthinkable violence of MS-13’s animals,” the release said. “President Trump’s entire Administration is working tirelessly to bring these violent animals to justice.”

Trump sent out a tweet on May 18, saying, “Fake News Media had me calling Immigrants, or Illegal Immigrants, “Animals.” Wrong! They were begrudgingly forced to withdraw their stories. I referred to MS 13 Gang Members as “Animals,” a big difference - and so true. Fake News got it purposely wrong, as usual!”

President Trump will travel to New York on Wednesday for an immigration event in Long Island, according to local officials. Trump will speak at the Morrelly Homeland Security Center in Bethpage, according to reps for Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.) and the New York GOP. He’s expected to talk about the need to remove violent MS-13 gang members, whom he’s dubbed “animals.”

GOP lawmaker, intel officials will meet to discuss FBI source

President Trump on Monday met with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and FBI Director Christopher Wray. President Trump personally called the meeting. The meeting occurred just a day after President Trump demanded a DOJ investigation into whether the FBI “infiltrated” his 2016 presidential campaign.

The Monday meeting was held to pressure law enforcement and intelligence officials to turn over to Congress information about the origins of the FBI investigation into his own 2016 campaign. It lasted for under an hour and was held in the Oval Office.

The focus of the meeting was expected to be the Justice Department’s response to congressional requests.

At the end of the meeting, there was an agreement to have the Justice Department’s inspector general investigate any “irregularities” in the investigation into the Trump campaign, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said. It was also agreed that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with congressional leaders to review highly classified and other information,” according to Sarah Sanders.

Trump said that he would formally seek a DOJ probe of whether agents surveilled the campaign for political purposes and whether such demands came from the Obama administration.

World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Demands Condoms Be Available at World Scout Jamboree

A handbook published by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) demands that condoms be accessible at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in 2019. The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is the governing body of the World Scout Jamboree. The boy scouts are one of many international scouting bodies governed by the WOSM and one of 3 countries taking part in this jamboree.

The Boy Scouts of America themselves did not make the policy regarding condoms to be available.

In the World Organization of the Scout Movement Handbook it states, “The Host Organization must ensure that condoms are readily and easily accessible for all participants and IST [International Service Team] at a number of locations on site.”

The 24th World Scout Jamboree is scheduled to be held in the mountains of West Virginia from July 21 to Aug. 1, 2019. “The World Scout Jamboree is an official educational event of the WOSM. It is specifically designed for young people aged between 14 and 17 years.”

On the event’s page it says, “For the first time, a world jamboree will be hosted by three national Scout organizations: Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America.” In a statement on the World Scout Jamboree, they say that the theme for the 2019 Jamboree is called “Unlock a New World…This theme speaks to the new adventures, cultures, and friendships that will be shared by Scouts from around the world during the event.”

NYC mayor tells cops to stop arresting public pot smokers as city prepares for legalization

New York City Mayor de Blasio has told top brass at the city’s police department to stop arresting people that are caught smoking marijuana in public. Currently, smoking in public can lead to arrest, while possession of small amounts of marijuana can lead to a summons.

Over the weekend, the mayor told the NYPD to issue summons for smoking pot in public, instead of making arrests. The NYPD has already begun a working group to evaluate its marijuana enforcement procedures and present its recommendations within 30 days, at Mayor de Blasio’s request.

Mayor De Blasio's call to end arrests comes after both the mayor and Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance made big announcements about marijuana enforcement on May 15.

New York Police Commissioner James O’Neil said NYPD officers should not make arrests that don’t impact public safety.

Last year, cops in Manhattan arrested people for smoking or possessing small amounts of marijuana a little more than 5,500 times.

Mail Time!

  • Bill, does anyone ever wonder why you never hear of school shootings in the inner city schools??? DUH! Maybe because they have way more security and metal detectors. Isn't this enough to prove what works! Metal Detectors and only one entrance to which children go into when they come to school. And a policeman at the entrance. Is this so hard?
  • Bill, curious, did the media openly hate Nixon and drive him out of office during Watergate or did they report the news accurately and fairly and let the chips fall? I was in high school back then and I really wasn't paying that much attention to the news. Did they treat Nixon like a pariah like they do Trump?
  • I'm glad you were able spend time with friends. Question. When you get home from a trip how does Holly react? Is she enthusiastically happy to see you or mad and standoffish because you left?
