O'Reilly on Fake News and Anti-Trump Hysteria; Interview with Bernard McGuirk and Sid Rosenberg
January 17, 2018

Bill began Wednesday's No Spin News with the ever-contentious relationship between President Trump and the media.  This was right before the president announced his "Fake News Awards," which he gave to the Washington Post, Time magazine, CNN, ABC News, and the New York Times.  President Trump singled out Times columnist Paul Krugman, who predicted on election night that the stock markets would endure sustained losses.

Bill left no doubt as to his own feelings about major media outlets.  "The national media," he said, "is generally corrupt.  They want to overturn the election of Donald Trump, that's what their goal is and that's what their bosses want.  Therefore you see six days of coverage of the 's***hole' remark.  Do we really need six days of this?  It's stupid!"

Bill continued on the same subject with a commentary on Republican Senator John McCain's editorial in the Washington Post.  "I like and respect John McCain," he said, "but this op-ed is not worthy of him.  He is basically saying that it is President Trump's fault that dictators around the world are persecuting the press.  C'mon, Senator, if you were president and 90% of the coverage of you was negative, you'd despise the press, too.  In fact, when you ran for president, the New York Times ran a front-page article implying that you were having an affair with a lobbyist.  They had no proof of that, Senator McCain, so you know how dishonest the press can be."

Bill added that Senator Jeff Flake, another Republican from Arizona, actually gave a speech Wednesday in which he compared President Trump's attitude toward the press with that of the murderous Soviet tyrant Josef Stalin.

With all this as a lead-in, Bill welcomed Bernard McGuirk and Sid Rosenberg, co-hosts of a New York City radio talk show.

"What's Stalin-esque," Rosenberg declared, "is when the press acts as an arm of a political party, which is what 95% of the press does for the Democratic Party.  The press comes at Donald and he comes back twice as hard, he's playing self-defense.  The press doesn't just stretch the truth, they lie."

McGuirk contended that President Trump would get lousy press treatment even if he was kinder and gentler to the media.  "They hate his guts.  Just the other night Anderson Cooper said this on CNN:  'Good evening, the president is tired of so many black people coming into this country.'  This is not an opinion guy, this is a straight news guy.  This is brutal, vicious, and nasty!"

Rosenberg then took a moment to name a few of his own fake news winners.  He cited Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC as 'best actress,' saying she lies at least twice a day.  And as for best actor, CNN's Chris Cuomo walked away with Rosenberg's imaginary statuette.

After Sid and Bernie departed, Bill turned to an interesting study out of Arizona.  So-called "dreamers" are just 2% of the state's population but make up 8% of Arizona's prison population.  "The press always says the 'dreamers' are harmless," Bill said, "and that they're all good people.  Most are good people, but not all."

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security reports that 73% of those individuals prosecuted for international-related terrorism charges since 9/11 were born in another country.

Finally, a couple of Californians are so frustrated with the state government that they have started a secession movement.  "They say they are living under a tyrannical form of government," Bill reported, "and they have issued a declaration of independence for 'New California.'  They want to have another state, they want 'New California' to break away from coastal California.  This won't go anywhere, but it's a sign of the times.  The coastal part of California from Los Angeles up to San Francisco is so far left that it doesn't reflect the views of other Californians."

In their emails and message board posts, Premium Members opined on the 2018 midterm elections and the lamentable division in America.

"The only thing that President Trump can do to unite Americans," Bill concluded, "is bring prosperity.  Even then, the left won't admit that he is helping minorities or bringing prosperity.  But Americans who are fair-minded, even if they don't like Donald Trump, will be united."

The No Spin News will be back Thursday with more news analysis and commentary.  See you then.
