Terror Attack in NYC

A man inspired by the Islamic State group set off a crude pipe bomb strapped to his body Monday in a crowded subway corridor near Times Square, injuring the man, slightly wounding three others and sending New York commuters fleeing in terror through the smoky passageway.

Surveillance cameras captured the man walking casually through the crowded passage when the bomb went off at 7:20 a.m. ET amid a plume of white smoke, which cleared to show the man sprawled on the ground and commuters scattering to get away. Investigators said it was not clear if he set the bomb off intentionally or prematurely.

“This was an attempted terrorist attack,” Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters. “Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals.”

The suspect, who was identified as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, was being treated at a hospital for burns to his hands and abdomen. The others who were injured suffered ringing in the ears and headaches.

Law enforcement officials said Ullah was inspired by the Islamic State group but apparently did not have any direct contact with the group and probably acted alone.

Ullah, who lives in Brooklyn, came to the U.S. from Bangladesh almost seven years ago and had been licensed to drive a livery cab between 2012 and 2015, according to law enforcement officials and the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission.

Ullah arrived in the U.S. in 2011 on an F-4 visa, a preferential visa available for those with family in the U.S. who are citizens, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said.

The explosion, which happened in an underground passageway under 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, triggered a massive emergency response by police and firefighters both above and below ground, tangling subway and bus service at the nearby Port Authority bus terminal.

It’s the city’s busiest subway station and a major transit hub, with 64 million subway riders passing through every year. In 2016, daily ridership on the subway was 5.7 million, a record high.

Everything around Times Square was shut down, halting what would ordinarily be a bustling rush hour. But streets quickly began returning to normal, and traffic around the area was expected to be operational by the evening rush.

Authorities said the bomb was a low-tech explosive device attached to Ullah with Velcro and plastic ties.

Americans Give Trump Higher Grades on Economy Than Overall

President Trump is getting stronger reviews from the public on the economy, with 42% approving and 37% disapproving, according to the most recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey.

The WSJ poll showed the president with a 38% approval rating, his lowest to date in this poll, while 58% disapproved of his overall performance.

A Gallup survey from November showed the president’s approval rating for his handling of the economy at 45%.

Trump denounces 'Fake News Media' after string of major reporting errors exposed

At a campaign-style rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Friday night, President Trump called out ABC News for running a false report that then-campaign adviser Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn reached out to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the campaign. Flynn actually spoke to the Russian diplomat after the election, during the transition. ABC News suspended investigative reporter Brian Ross after his report turned out to be untrue.

During the rally, Trump also noted CNN "apologized" after the news organization ran an erroneous story that Donald Trump Jr. got WikiLeaks information before it was leaked on the internet. The campaign actually used the information after it was put on the web for all to see.

In a now-deleted tweet, the Washington Post’s Dave Weigel posted a photo of a half-empty arena to mock Trump for saying the rally was “packed to the rafters.”

The photo was NOT taken while Trump was speaking. Trump tweeted photos showing the arena when it was full.

On Saturday, President Trump tweeted, “@daveweigel @washingtonpost put out a phony photo of an empty arena hours before I arrived @ the venue, w/ thousands of people outside, on their way in. Real photos now shown as I spoke. Packed house, many people unable to get in. Demand apology & retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo!”

He followed up the tweet on Sunday saying, “Very little discussion of all the purposely false and defamatory stories put out this week by the Fake News Media. They are out of control - correct reporting means nothing to them. Major lies written, then forced to be withdrawn after they are exposed...a stain on America!”

#MeToo spotlight increasingly pointed at past Trump conduct

The national #MeToo spotlight is turning back to Trump and his alleged past conduct. Several of his accusers are urging Congress to investigate his behavior, and a number of Democratic lawmakers are demanding his resignation.

Three women who have previously accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct before he took office spoke out Monday as America's watershed #MeToo moment continues to unfold.

Jessica Leeds, Samantha Holvey and Rachel Crooks, speaking together on "Megyn Kelly Today," described separate interactions with the president in years past, with one of the allegations dating back several decades.

In a heated exchange with reporters in the White House briefing room on Monday, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders steadfastly dismissed accusations against the Republican president and suggested the issue had already been litigated in Trump’s favor on Election Day.

Again, we don't know what Donald Trump did or did not do. Nobody knows. The women say one thing and Trump says another. You don't know.

However, we do know who ran these women into New York City. Robert Greenwald. Greenwald runs a far-left operation funded by far-left concerns. Hello, George Soros. Greenwald was in charge of getting the women at NBC and in the press conference. If you read the dispatches, that's not mentioned.

Alabama Senate Election Polls Show Two Different Outcomes

A Gravis Marketing poll finds Roy Moore has 49 percent support in the Alabama Senate race, while Doug Jones only had 45 percent. Another 6 percent of respondents are undecided. Of those who are undecided, 24 percent say they are leaning toward supporting Moore, 27 percent say they are leaning toward Jones and nearly 50 percent are uncertain.

However, a FOX News poll shows Democrat Doug Jones holding a 10-point lead over Republican Roy Moore among likely voters in deep red Alabama.

Doug Jones received 50 percent of voters’ support while Roy Moore only received 40 percent of voters’ support, 8 percent are undecided and 2 percent are supporting another candidate.

By a 6-point margin, Alabama voters believe the allegations against Moore are true (39-33 percent).  They were more evenly divided last month, believing the accusations by just 1 point (38-37 percent). About one quarter, 27 percent, feel it is too soon to say or have no opinion.

Mail Time!

  • "I agree with you regarding FBI chief Christopher Wray. Very disappointed in his presentation before the House Judicial Committee."
  • As I said last week, Wray was totally in the tank and wouldn't say anything. And today, lead editorial, Christopher Wray's FBI Stonewall in the Wall Street Journal. Now I only point this out so that you'll know your money is well spent by being BillOReilly.com Premium Members. We're way ahead of the curve here when we're reporting the news. Way, way ahead of it. And I think that's why you take the time to watch the podcast because you're not going to get any of this at all on the network and cable news stations.
  • "I agree with you, the press and the left are going after President Trump with the women angle. However, the mental health angle seems to be gathering steam right now."
  • There's no mental health angle. I mean, that's just a bunch of smear stuff. Don't worry about that.
  • "Thanks for bringing some sanity to the news. When I come to No Spin News, I find it easier to filter through the fake news without shooting myself."
  • Absolutely. You'll have a baseline of truth here.
