TROPICAL STORM HARVEY MAKES 2ND LANDFALL

On Wednesday morning Harvey made its second landfall, this time as a tropical storm. Harvey is expected to bring heavy rain and some flooding to Louisiana, but nothing like what the state suffered in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina.

Harvey is expected to begin weakening to a tropical depression by Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Houston is still reeling from major flooding after the area was hit with almost 52 inches of rain over the past few days.

Yesterday, President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Corpus Christi and Austin, Texas. There they met with Texas Governor Abbott and surveyed the damage caused by Harvey.

The question remains how Americans will judge President Trump’s response and recovery to Hurricane Harvey.

As of last night the American Red Cross said that there are 32,000 people in 230 shelters run by Red Cross and affiliates across TX.  They also have 3 shelters in Louisiana.  Houston Convention Center shelter had 11,000 people as of last night.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says more than 48,700 homes have been affected by flooding and other damage brought by Harvey since it first came ashore Friday.

In Harris County, one of the state's largest and home to Houston, about 43,700 homes have been damaged, with some 11,600 receiving major damage and another 770 destroyed.

Harvey has also damaged nearly 700 businesses in the state.

We recommend that if you are going to donate go to the Red Cross or a local church or organization that may be taking in funds to support Harvey victims.

President Trump gives speech in Missouri on tax cuts

President Trump gave a speech at the Loren Cook Company in Springfield, Missouri, today to push for a major tax overhaul. In President Trump’s speech he outlined 4 main points for his tax plan.

1-     Simplify taxcode and get rid of special interest loopholes

2-     Make tax rates more competitive to benefit American workers and bring business tax rates to 15%, it is currently at 35%.

3-     Tax relief for middle class working Americans

4-     Make companies bring back the wealth that they’ve made overseas by cutting their tax rates.

In President Trump’s speech he said, “We are here to bring back Main Street by reducing the crushing tax burden on our workers and our companies.” He went on to say, “There is no more fitting place to launch this effort than right here in the American heartland,” he added, calling the nearby historic Route 66 highway a “vivid symbol of America’s booming industry.”

As with many other Trump events there was a heavy police presence around the area in hopes of defusing any protests. Many pro and anti- Trump groups had organized rallies through social media, but police seemed to keep the event mostly peaceful.

The problems facing Illinois

As reported yesterday, Republican Governor Bruce Rauner signed the first ever sanctuary state legislation that would limit cooperation with federal immigration officials, which angered members of his own party.

In Chicago alone, 2,500 people have been shot this year and since January 1st, there have been 466 homicides in the city. It’s a city that seems to have lost control and adding this immigration legislation will not help the problem.

Illinois’ population is decreasing and one of the main reasons is because the state is going bankrupt.

As of June 12th, Illinois was responsible for a record backlog of unpaid bills totaling close to $15 Billion, this increases the states’ tax rate which is why people are moving out.

Many observers wonder if it will make history and become the first state to file for bankruptcy. While it is currently impossible for a state to file for bankruptcy (only counties and municipalities can file), Chapter 9 could be extended to states if Congress decided to take up the issue.

Interview with Michael Koolidge on what is driving people out of Illinois

The reason people are moving out of Illinois is because of three main reasons:

1-     The murder rate is through the roof. There were 789 homicides in Chicago last year and they are well on the way to reaching or going over that number this year.

2-     The tax rates continue to increase.

3-     Pensions- It was in Illinois state constitution that pensions cannot be touched so the amount owed keeps snowballing. Illinois’ unfunded pension liability for the state’s five major plans grew 25% in one year alone, reaching $251 Billion.

What are the 3 big factors in the murder problem in Chicago?

1-     A culture that has zero respect for anything, a gang culture. No respect for life, the law or oneself. Nothing to lose, here today great, dead tomorrow, oh well.

2-     Self-serving politicians that have made the rule of law and those that represent it and are tasked with enforcing it the enemy.

3-     A culture not interested in a resolution to the violence and a weak judicial system.

Sarah Palin’s lawsuit gets dismissed by a federal judge

On Tuesday, Federal Judge Jed Rakoff tossed out a defamation lawsuit by Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin against The New York Times.

Former Republican vice presidential nominee sued The Times over an editorial titled "America's Lethal Politics." The editorial was published in June after a gunman opened fire on Republican lawmakers in Virginia, wounding U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise.

Readers complained that it appeared to blame a political action committee belonging to Palin for "political incitement". The Times issued a correction the following day.

In yesterday’s ruling Judge Rakoff said the lawsuit seeking unspecified damages "fails on its face to adequately allege actual malice."

"What we have here is an editorial, written and rewritten rapidly in order to voice an opinion on an immediate event of importance, in which are included a few factual inaccuracies somewhat pertaining to Mrs. Palin that are very rapidly corrected," the judge said. "Negligence this may be; but defamation of a public figure it plainly is not."

Judge Rakoff dismissed an argument by Palin's lawyers that the newspaper might have been trying to boost sales by attacking Palin.

"As to the alleged 'hostility,' it goes without saying that the Times editorial board is not a fan of Mrs. Palin," he wrote. "But neither the fact of that opposition, nor the supposition that a sharp attack on a disfavored political figure will increase a publication's readership, has ever been enough to prove actual malice."

This just shows that if you are a famous person in America, it is open season on you. Everyone knows that the New York Times despises Sarah Palin.

UNL student gets berated for trying to recruit students for a conservative group

Kaitlyn Mullen, a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was trying to recruit students for a conservative group on Friday when she was berated and intimidated by her far left peers and professors.

Mullen had a set up a stand for the Nebraska Union on behalf of Turning Point USA, a national conservative organization that has chapters on campuses around the nation.

The protestors who were all female, rushed to Mullen’s recruitment stand. Mullen recalled, "they were circling my table, screaming profanities, calling me the KKK, white nationalist.”

"It was, honestly, it made me feel unsafe, I was alone, and these women were being aggressive in what they were saying."

Mullen took a cell phone video of the protests that were going on around her. The video shows a woman making a sign, and another woman holding a sign that says 'Just Say No! To Neo-Fascism,' saying "Neo-fascist Becky right here," and chanting "fight white nationalism, fight white supremacy."

The environment became so hostile that Mullen began to cry and campus police had to take her home.

UNL said through a statement Monday that it is “committed to free speech from all viewpoints” and expects the campus “to be a place of civil discourse.”

The statement said the atmosphere of civility Friday “was eroded by behavior that was offensive to many. ... We are continuing our review of this situation, including discussions with all involved.”

Hank Bounds, president of the NU system, said through a statement Monday night that UNL representatives “had an opportunity to model how differing opinions can be exchanged with civility, respect and dignity. It appears that opportunity was missed. I’m deeply troubled that a student has been treated this way.”

Kathy Griffin withdraws apology for beheaded Trump video

Kathy Griffin has rescinded her apology for the photo of herself posing with a bloodied Donald Trump mask that cost her a stand-up tour.

After Kathy Griffin was photographed in May holding a fake bloody severed head of President Trump, she issued what appeared to be a heartfelt apology.

But three months later, the comedian has changed her tune about the photo, taken by celebrity photographer Tyler Shields.

In an interview with Australia’s Seven Network, the comedian told “Sunrise” co-hosts David Koch and Samantha Armytage that she “is no longer sorry” for the photo that stirred up so much outrage.

“The whole outrage was B.S.” Griffin said. “The whole thing got so blown out of proportion and I lost everybody. Like, I had Chelsea Clinton tweeting against me. I had friends — Debra Messing from ‘Will & Grace,’ tweeting against me. I mean, I lost everybody. So, I have been through the mill.” Griffin went on to say, “These Trump fans, they’re hardcore,” she said. “They’re a minority, but they know how to act like a majority.”

EMAIL!

  • Can you believe there are some people out there saying that President Trump’s visit to Texas was not appropriate? If he hadn’t showed up people would have thought the president didn’t care about Texas. It’s a no win situation for the president.
  • Kenneth Storey’s tweet about “karma” doesn’t make any sense. If it was “instant karma” for the Republicans in Texas, what was it for the Democrats in Texas?
  • Bill, you’re accurate in saying antifa is dangerous. I believe the agenda goes deep and we should be condemning our loss of identification as Americans. They are systematically discrediting our forefathers which I see as a ploy to discredit our Constitution. People like you see the truth.
  • Bill, are you against medical cannabis? I’ve never heard your position on that issue. No, we’re not against it if needed for a medical reason, but it should come from a regular doctor, not some hack.
  • Killing England, out September 19! Preorder it now!
