O'Reilly on More Press Bias, Tweeting, & Grading Trump
June 7, 2017

On the eve of the much-anticipated James Comey testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bill announced that he'll be doing some live tweeting during Thursday's main event.  Also, Thursday's No Spin News will include a spin-free analysis of Comey's testimony and what it means to the Trump presidency.

Bill turned to Wednesday's hearing, during which four intelligence bigwigs answered questions from that same committee.  Democratic senators tried mightily to focus on alleged Russian collusion, but all four intelligence chieftains solemnly swore that no one ever told them to do anything improper or illegal.  "The press hated it," Bill concluded, "because there was no smoking gun aimed directly at Donald Trump's head." He added, "There was really nothing in that hearing today."

On a related subject, James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence under President Obama, is in Australia giving paid speeches.  In response to a question, Clapper theorized that the possible Russian election interference is "worse than Watergate."  The anti-Trump press went wild, but a close analysis shows that Clapper was actually referring to the difference between what ignited the two events.  One was a petty break-in, the other involves a foreign power trying to influence our elections.  "It's impossible for me to state," Bill groused, "how corrupt the American and worldwide press is.  If there is hard evidence of collusion between President Trump and his crew and President Putin and his crew, that would be an amazing thing.  But there is no evidence, and there is no evidence that President Trump tried to interfere in any information gathering."

Bill turned to the Wall Street Journal's editorial predicting that James Comey will try to lay the hammer on President Trump.  "If Comey wrote memos after his discussions with the president," Bill said, "the Senate committees have the right to see them, and so do we the people.  I believe Trump felt sorry for General Michael Flynn and asked Comey to go easy on Flynn.  But is that obstruction?  No.  It doesn't strike me that Trump was aggressively trying to put the kibosh on the investigation."

As has been reported, 25-year-old Reality Winner, a military veteran and linguist, is under arrest for leaking national security information to an online publication.  She will be prosecuted in what seems like an open-and-shut case.  "Did you know," Bill asked rhetorically, "that more leakers were prosecuted under President Obama than all other presidents combined since 1945?  Both President Obama and President Trump know that leakers are dangerous to the USA."

A new ABC News poll finds that 56% of Americans believe President Trump is interfering with the Russian investigation.  Bill ridiculed the poll and its results, saying that no one really knows whether or not the president is in fact interfering.  Meanwhile, 63% of college professors believe Donald Trump will be impeached.  Bill's pithy conclusion:  "It shows you the level of hatred in colleges and universities across the country."

Turning to letters, Bill comforted one Premium Member who worried that London terrorists can easily fly across the Atlantic to the USA.  "The United States has a very strong relationship with UK authorities," he said, "who have a 'watch list' of suspicious people.  When customs sees someone come in from England with a Muslim name, they check.  If they're on the 'watch list,' they go right back."

Bill also tried to answer a viewer's question about the Democratic Party and its possible presidential nominee in 2020.  "Right now the people raising money," Bill reported, "are former Vice President Joe Biden, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, who will take Bernie Sanders' place on the left."

Finally, another PM asked Bill to grade President Trump's performance thus far.  His reply:  "It is incomplete because his legislation has been stalled by the nonsense about the Russian collusion and by the president's inability to calm the waters.  The economy looks like it's picking up, but he has to get the tax cut done this year.  I'm not in business to promote or criticize any administration.  My goal is to watch out for you and to tell the truth about the news, which very few people do."

Don't forget to check Bill's Twitter feed Thursday and then log on to the No Spin News for an extended, thorough, and honest analysis of James Comey's testimony.
