LETTER OF THE DAY!

“We have been repeatedly notified by our church clergy that we may not campaign or even discuss politics on church property.  It is not loving for members to take political sides on God’s domain.  Plus, it jeopardizes the church’s IRS tax-exemption.”

Charlotte McDonald

Salt Lake City, UT

FREEZER BURN

Ben & Jerry, the Vermont ice cream guys, are organizing a bunch of radical liberals to help raise money to finance the Occupy movement.

“With regards to your report on Ben & Jerry’s raising millions for the Occupy Wall Street movement, why don’t you ask them to also pay for all the damage the occupiers are causing?”

Bill Basham

Sudbury, MA

“So the Ben & Jerry’s guys don’t care if people get hurt?  I love their ice cream, but the next time I shell out $4 for a pint, it’ll be Haagen-Dazs.”

Maura Felix

Middletown, NY

“Do these ice cream soda jerks realize they just lost money by supporting the Occupy movement?  I’m going to buy chocolate peanut butter Haagen- Dazs from now on!”

Kelly Faley

San Francisco, CA

“If the two knuckleheads Ben & Jerry had stopped to think for even a minute, they might have realized that raising money to pay anarchists is not a great business idea.”

Lindsay Damskov

Crystal Lake, PA

“I’m going to boycott Ben & Jerry’s, and I encourage others to do the same.  There were incidents of violence during the Occupy protests.  Also, these low-lives don’t even pay taxes.”

Judy Halston

Mesa, AZ

FULL OF GAS?

GOP contender Newt Gingrich is raising eyebrows on the campaign trail by promising to lower gas prices to $2.50/gallon if elected president.  Is this an empty promise or does he have the goods to back it up?

“I think Newt has a good plan.  If we start drilling, we won’t need to buy any oil from anyone.  Then we can sell whatever we don’t need, still making a profit while becoming energy independent.”

Barri Mayse

Dayton, TN

“Newt brilliantly exposed your incorrect thoughts on blocking our exports of oil when he suggested that you’d probably want to do the same thing with corn and wheat.  You seem to think corn and wheat aren’t necessities, and you’re wrong.”

Greg Rose

Alpharetta, GA

“Newt Gingrich told you your theory about high gas prices is wrong and you still wouldn’t listen.  The U.S. imports more than it exports.  Increased production here will lower prices.”

Dr. Robert Lovett

Naples, FL

“The high price is due to more than what we are exporting.  For one thing, the value of the dollar is down, so the price we are paying for a barrel of oil on the world market is up.”

Kathy Wilson

Onekama, MI

“In your debate with Mr. Gingrich, you mentioned we could do without wheat and corn, but oil is very much needed.  Do you think we can start eating oil?”

Bill Crawford

Wheat Ridge, CO

“If we start producing all the oil we can, we will wreck the overseas market by not having to buy all the imported oil, thereby forcing even lower prices.  We need to get started now.”

Don Ruroede

Ewing, NE

“You said Newt’s drill plan would take too much time.  Five to ten years is not too long for a 200+ year old nation to attack a revolving door problem.  It’s called long-term planning.”

Dr. Clarence Von Hoy

Alton, IL

RACIAL POLITICS

In an Internet video promoting “African Americans for Obama,” the President tells blacks to talk up his re-election bid in their faith communities.  Does this violate the separation of church and state?

“What if it were African-Americans for Santorum or Romney?  Mr. Obama’s manipulation of a race of people for purely political gain is wrong on every level.”

Dick Cole

Rolla, MO

“There would be a lawsuit and a Congressional investigation were Santorum to use the white people lead in.”

Bob Thompson

Salt Lake City, UT

“Tell Colmes the U.S. Constitution does not discriminate.  Obama is wrong and I for one will not tolerate his expectations of black churches.”

Bob Jones

Olympia, WA

“It was inspiring to see Alan Colmes have a lucid moment.  Using churches and religious organizations for politics definitively crosses the line separating church from state.”

Bob Gallagher

Etowah, TN

“As a firefighter, I often went into churches in the city for medical calls during the 2008 election and it was common for inner city churches to have rallies supporting Barack Obama.  It’s just accepted.”

John Kelly

Wall, NJ

“President Obama wants separation of church and state so long as he can use executive privilege to receive votes from African-American congregations.”

Chris Wablington

West Point, MS

FIGHTING WORDS

Ex-Minnesota governor, Jesse “The Body” Ventura, has filed a defamation lawsuit against a Navy SEAL who wrote about allegedly getting into a bar brawl with Ventura years ago.

“Why are they duking it out in court?  Put them in an eight-sided cage, sell it on Pay-Per-View and let the winner take all!”

Wendell Daily III

Fillmore, CA

“I think Jesse Ventura’s defamation case against Chris Kyle will not only be dismissed; the judge will order Kyle to knock Ventura down again.”

Andrew Krouse

Hummelstown, PA

“Jesse Ventura learned in wrestling that there is no such thing as bad publicity.  Methinks he’s helping the sniper sell books.”

Dan Eckstrom

Glendale, AZ
