The Hill: President Barack Obama said in a recent interview that he does not "intend" to send to send U.S. troops to new al Qaeda hotbeds in Yemen and Somalia.
The president, in an interview with People magazine to be published on Friday, said ground troops do not fit into the U.S.'s plans for those regions now, but did not rule out the possibility of sending them in the future.
"I have no intention of sending U.S. boots on the ground in these regions," he told the magazine. "I have every intention of working with our international partners in lawless areas around the globe to make sure that we're keeping the American people safe."
