I understand and sympathize with all the GOOD people who are really looking for a job! I would be horrified, if the railroads went belly up! They did cut back a while ago, and my husband was effected badly for a while. Now, things seem to really be booming. Sorry, back to the question: Doesn't extending un-employment benefits just compound our money problems? I still want the folks who really need this money to get it! I would be terrified right now if my husband got laid off! My heart goes out to you guys!

Mitchell- 98% of small businesses will be exempt from participating is providing health care. Don't know how true that is since their isn't a final bill yet. It may not be as bad as you may think once the dust settles on this legistation.

My question is WHERE are the jobs? Most people do NOT want to be unemployed. They ARE looking for jobs. WHERE are they?Where is the money from the stimulus bill he shoved down our throats?
Here are the jobs. I have a small business. The price of my product is controlled by regulation. Currently I have no employees. Right now I need 60 hours of help weekly. That is 1 1/2 jobs. I will not hire anyone. The reasons I will not hire right now are all based on the government. Reason 1: Medical care. I do not know how much I will have to pay to provide medical care to employees. If I assume health care will cost $1000. per month per family, this number is from Obama himself, I can assume this will cost me at lease $1,500 per month or $18,000 per year. Reason 2: California is talking of raising unemployment insurance by 3 times the rate. I don't have my unemployment rate available right now but I assure you I can't absorb this cost. Reason 3: California has proposed legislation that would require employers to provide 10 days of paid sick leave per employee. This does not matter if they are full time or part time. If you pay $12.00 per hour that works out to $1920. This does not included payroll tax. To employee 1 1/2 people could cost me well over $75,000 per year. So what do I do. I work 7 days a week. 14 hours per day. This is where the jobs have gone.

your telling me this is not worth reporting? the no spin news is for stuff Bill does not have time for during his regular program. Perhaps he might consider cutting back on some of his segments. Im just saying 8-| I never said it isn't worth reporting. Where did I say that? I said it would be spun, like everything coming from the WH, Congress and any news organization is spun. Pay attention to the numbers, and the timing. Then, wait for reality to hit. Of course it should be reported. Anytime you can get people hired and off the public dole is a good thing. But wait for the reality to come back. It's seasonal hiring. The same cycle, every year. Holiday, vacation, and gift giving seasons always see more hires for seasonal work. When the holidays and vacation time is over, we go back to reality. Then we see just what the numbers actually are. Im sorry but i wasnt talking to you i was talking to the staff. Sorry for the confusion:-P
No problem ;-)

I think with all the extensions it is up to 2 years of un-employment now.
The original time was 26 weeks of un-employment.
I really don't know where they think all the $$$ are coming from for all of the things they want to pass.
How does the average joe afford this? If they have NO insurance, fine them???? Pass cap and trade, your energy $$ double, they are totally ignorant in our congress, but I guess when you have big $$$ like most of them the little people don't matter just the useless Welfare people who have never worked a day in their life, unless you count childbirth as a job. No husband, and 5 kids, and YOU foot the bill! That's who Obama wants to re-distribute our $$ to.

Don't think we need to call representatives sl*ts just because we don't care for their policies. I have no desire for Pelosi either. I am hoping that Bill will monitor the boards more closely.

On the one hand, I want the economic news to continue on it's downward spiral. It will help toss out the liberal majority come mid-term elections....On the other hand, I've been unemployed for 10 months...now my wife is facing chemotherapy for recurring breast cancer and I need a job ! 25 years of skill and experience in the cabinetmaking and construction industry will go down the tubes as I soon will be flipping burgers......
