Tuesday: Trump Controversy and Republican Division
Republican Division on Trump
Guest: Kirsten Powers
At an event this afternoon, Donald Trump said that if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency and gets to pick Supreme Court justices, there's "nothing you can do, folks ... although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is." Trump critics say this statement could be interpreted as a veiled call for violence, while others say it's just Trump saying pro-gun folks should get out there and vote.

Kirsten characterized Trump's comment as some sort of off-the-cuff, wry joke that suggested killing Hillary Clinton. She also said the Trump campaign statement about trying to unite 2nd Amendment supporters didn't make sense.

Bolling incredulously asked whether people actually think Trump was calling for violence. In his opinion, any time a Republican mentions the 2nd Amendment, it's cat nip to liberals.

Kirsten argued there's nothing to suggest Hillary is interested in taking people's guns away, but admitted she's trying to take away "some guns" when Bolling pointed out that Clinton is calling for a ban on semi-automatic weapons.
Benghazi Update
Guest: Senator Tom Cotton
The parents of two men killed in the Benghazi attacks are suing Hillary Clinton, as Donald Trump links her email scandal to the execution of an Iranian nuclear scientist.

Sen. Cotton said we may never know if there's a connection between Hillary's emails and the death of the Iranian scientist, but we do know her email server contained emails about this gentleman and hackers may have gotten access. He used this as a perfect example of why the Secretary of State should have been using a classified network.

Bolling wondered what Clinton's original motives were for setting up a private server, to which the Senator noted she's spent her entire life trying to avoid scrutiny. He said it's reasonable for Americans to draw an adverse inference here.
Paul Ryan's Congressional Race
Guest: Mike Tobin
Mike gave us a live report from Wisconsin with the latest on Speaker Paul Ryan's closely watched primary race against populist Paul Nehlen.

Mike reported the Nehlen campaign is excited about the attention Donald Trump has brought to this race by initially refusing to endorse Ryan, but cautioned it would be quite an upset if Nehlen won against Ryan, who is currently enjoying an 84% approval rating.

Note: Paul Ryan handily defeated Paul Nehlen in the primary race
Another Trump Controversy?
Guest: Ben Carson
A new Wall Street Journal poll shows Hillary Clinton ahead of Donald Trump in the key states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Iowa.

Bolling expressed frustration that we're back to talk about Trump "controversies" the day after the nominee laid out a great economic plan.

Carson responded that liberals pick apart every possible thing Trump says because they don't have a plan for dealing with the economy, Islamic terrorism, and failing schools, so they're attempting to divert attention away from important areas.

Fifty national security officials who have served under Republican administrations have issued a public warning that Donald Trump "would be the most reckless president in American history." Of course, Mr. Trump is firing back at these critics saying that their opinions aren't valid since they are the folks that led our country off track in the first place.

Carson said these Republicans are part of the established political class and they see Trump as an insurgent. As time goes on, Carson believes some of them will come around to Trump.

Bolling questioned the timing of this warning from the GOP elite coming out right after Trump's economic plan was getting rave reviews.
How to Deal with Iran
Guest: Lt. Col. Ralph Peters
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters weighed in on the $400 million exchange with Iran in January. Was it a legit payment or a ransom for hostages?

Bolling noted the Iranians are saying it wasn't ransom, "nothing to see here."

Col. Peters contended this is very straightforward: The Obama administration didn't want hostages to cloud the glory of the President's Iran nuke deal so he paid a ransom, a move he called "profoundly dishonest."

Bolling insinuated that Iran would capture more hostages now that they know what they're worth, but the Colonel went a step further and said this made Americans, who now have a price tag on them, vulnerable all over the world.
Escalating Chicago Violence
Guest: Amy Williams
Yesterday in Chicago, 9 people were killed and another 13 injured including a 10-year-old boy. It was Chicago's deadliest day in 13 years.

Williams, a certified gang intervention specialist, asserted that violence is a symptom of many underlying issues.

In response to Bolling's question about who was to blame for these crimes, Williams argued this is much deeper than black-on-black shootings. She said in order to reduce the violence, Chicago needs more money for after-school programs and more jobs for non-violent felons getting out of prison.
Orlando Terror Attack Update
Guests: Lisa Boothe & Richard Goodstein
The father of the Orlando terrorist who killed 49 people at the Pulse night club in June attended a Hillary Clinton rally this week - sitting right behind the candidate.

Bolling recounted the Clinton campaign's account of the incident: Seddique Mateen was not an invited guest, and they were unaware he was in the audience until after the rally.

Bolling found it incredible that a man claiming to be interim president of Afghanistan was somehow allowed to sit within feet of the Democratic candidate.

Goodstein commented that they let the white supremacists into Trump's rallies, but they don't let Bernie Sanders supporters in.

Ms. Boothe responded that the media kept trying to tie Donald Trump to David Duke, but we won't see any headlines about this guy being at a Clinton rally.
