"If you've heard members of the Senate 'Gang of Eight' push immigration reform, you've heard them repeat this tired line: 'We must do something because the system is broken.' But to say the system is broken is to remove responsibility from politicians who refuse to enforce the current laws and from individuals who willfully break those laws. In Mexico yesterday the President said we shouldn't get 'bogged down' on border issues. Does that sound like somebody who is serious about enforcement? Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told me last week that enforcement provisions in the proposed bill will not work, especially since Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano can waive most of the requirements. Meanwhile, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced today that it will track student visa holders to make sure they're actually enrolled in school. They were shamed into doing this because of the revelation that two of the Boston bomber's pals violated student visa requirements. The system is not broken, but the politicians sure are."
Laura pursued the latest Boston bombing developments, including the revelation that the Tsarnaev brothers originally planned a July 4th attack, with Michael Grant and Joe Dwinell of the Boston Herald. "There would be hundreds of thousands of people all packed together on the Charles River," Dwinell said, "so it's just chilling to hear that. This plan was deadly and cowardly. We gave this family more than $100,000 in benefits and then they turned around and said this country stinks!" Grant turned to Tamerlan Tsarnaev's widow Katherine Russell, who claims she had no advance knowledge of the attack. "Do you know how small apartments are in Cambridge? There's no way she could have been stepping around six boxes of pressure cookers. Accounts are that she contacted her husband after his photo hit TV, she didn't contact the cops!" Laura complained that the Tsarnaevs received far more from this country than they deserved: "There's a sense of people gaming the system. Americans are struggling out there, so why are we giving benefits to people who never bought into our values or our system?" |

| In a rare interview, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recently said that he always knew that any black President would "have to be approved by the elites and the media." Laura analyzed that assertion with Fox News contributor Jacques DeGraff. "The fact of the matter," DeGraff said, "is that every African American who has stepped forward for a major office has undergone excruciating scrutiny. Look at what Barack Obama went through - they talked about his birthplace, his pastor, his religion. No one else had their college transcript requested." DeGraff proceeded to scoff at the notion that black conservatives are treated differently by the media. "I think they're received differently in their home communities and they are subject to scrutiny in the media, but no more so than other African American leaders." |

| Hillary Clinton has been anointed as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016. Democratic pollster Margie Omero entered the No Spin Zone with her assessment. "We now have a climate," she said, "where Democrats have the advantage in the presidential race. I think it will be tougher for other candidates to get into the field if she decides to run, but it's a long way away and a lot of things can happen." Omero also downplayed the significance of Hillary Clinton's actions, or lack thereof, on the night of the Benghazi attack. "It hasn't been a problem for her yet and voters don't make up their minds based on what conversations people had or what cables people have read." Laura added that Mrs. Clinton will be greatly helped by her husband: "Bill Clinton hit the trail big time for Barack Obama, and don't you think he demanded that Barack Obama campaign for his wife in 2016? He did it in part because he wanted President Obama to win, but in part because he wanted his wife to win in 2016." |

| While President Obama touts the security of our borders, a documentary called "They Come to America II" concludes that the southern border is porous and chaotic. Laura spoke with the film's producer Dennis Michael Lynch and immigration rights advocate Enrique Morones. "I'm not surprised to see a clip of this film on Fox News," Morones declared. "It's trying to paint a picture that is actually not happening along the entire border and we know that more people are going south than north today. The border has never been more secure." Lynch ridiculed Morones' claim that the border is secure. "This man's narrative is the problem with the country. When you go to the border you see the truth, but no one wants the truth to come out. I'm here to defend the American people, the ones who are in the unemployment lines. We're not being protected by the President of the United States." Laura worried that potential terrorists can easily cross into the United States: "It only takes a couple of people to kill a lot of Americans, so to say that the overwhelming part of the border is being enforced is ridiculous." |

| The unemployment rate for black Americans is above 13%, double the rate for whites. Laura introduced Bill's recent discussion of that problem with Black Entertainment Television founder Robert Johnson. "African Americans have been living with this unemployment gap for fifty years," Johnson lamented. "To me the principal drivers are the failure of corporate America to hire qualified African Americans and the failure of African Americans to get access to capital to start small businesses. There is also a legacy of long-term institutionalized racism. There are millions of African Americans with the talent, the work ethic, the integrity, and the ingenuity to be successful in jobs or in business." Bill reminded Johnson that the crumbling black family structure also plays a major role: "I believe the primary problem in the African American community is out-of-wedlock birth, which drives unemployment. And every corporation that I've worked for has actively recruited African Americans, they're looking for them." |

| Laura was joined by Geraldo Rivera, who reported on a California couple whose child was taken away when they demanded a second opinion after being told the baby needed open heart surgery. "These parents are Russian immigrants," Rivera began, "who came here to the land of freedom. Little did they expect that the totalitarian state would take their baby from their arms in their home without a warrant. Their child was born with a heart murmur, they began to worry about the quality of care at the hospital and they asked for a second opinion. They then took the child from the ICU and went to another hospital where physicians allowed the parents to take the child home. But the next day child protective services was at the door to take the child away!" Laura concluded with some happy news, reporting that a judge has returned the baby to the parents. |

| Actress Reese Witherspoon was recently arrested for disorderly conduct after her husband Jim Toth was pulled over for driving under the influence. A dashboard camera recorded Witherspoon warning the cop, "Do you know my name? ... You're about to find out who I am." Laura scrutinized the incident with radio talk show host Mike Gallagher. "I have always loved Reese Witherspoon," Gallagher confessed, "and I really appreciated her apology. When do you hear a celebrity say, 'I messed up, I was a fool, I'm embarrassed?' She said that right out of the gate and she admitted being drunk, which is really rare. That's a good message for everybody to learn, it wasn't one of these qualified apologies, and I think Americans are ready to forgive her." |
