Talking Points Memo
The South Carolina Vote & More
Guest: Charles Krauthammer
Talking Points started off by assessing the state of the 2016 race:
"Realistically it's now down to Trump, Rubio and Cruz on the Republican side.  It would take a miracle for Carson and Kasich to rise up. On the Democrat front, Hillary Clinton won the Nevada caucus because minority voters supported her. Very good news for the secretary.

"Talking Points predicted Trump would win South Carolina and that non-white voters would secure the nomination for Mrs. Clinton. And while she is a lock unless the FBI presents damning email evidence, the GOP race is still in play.

"Donald Trump's support is loyal and about a third of Republican voters will back him. However, 48% of GOP voters according to a Fox News poll do not believe Mr. Trump has the temperament to be president. He must overcome that.

"Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio remain competitive, although they have high negative numbers in some areas as well."

Charles Krauthammer joined The Factor and added that he thought the South Carolina vote strengthened both Trump and Rubio, but weakened Cruz.

Krauthammer also weighed in on the Apple vs. the Feds controversy over the tech-giant's refusal to cooperate with a court order asking for it to help the FBI unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists.

"This is completely Slam Dunk," Krauthammer said. "Look, the Feds are not asking Apple to create a back door on every iPhone. ... Here is how you do this. I mean, it is so damn simple it is annoying. The Feds -- they hand over the phone. Apple has it in secret. Apple then does its stuff. And, all the Feds want is not the code or the keys. All they want is the information in the phone. So, what Apple does, it puts the information in a little envelope. It hands it over to the Feds. And, then, it can take the phone and obliterate it. And, it calls up a soprano, who takes it and tosses it deep into the East River."
Impact Segment
One on One With Senator Rubio
Guest: Senator Marco Rubio
Up next on the rundown was GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio, a senator from Florida. The Factor asked Rubio if he'd deport all illegal immigrants living in the United States.

"Well, the ones that are dangerous criminals, the ones that are violent, the ones who pose a threat would be immediately deported," Rubio said. "And, many others will have to leave or be deported because they do not qualify. They have been in here long enough. But, I can just tell you that what we do with the rest of them is not even something we are going to have a debate about until we first secure our border."
Personal Story
Cruz on Illegal Immigration
Guest: Senator Ted Cruz
The Factor next brought in Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas.

Cruz told The Factor he would apprehend and deport all illegal immigrants in the country. The Factor challenged Cruz on the feasibility of his plan because illegal immigrants are entitled to due process. Cruz said that as a lawyer he knew his plan was on solid legal ground.

"I have spent my entire process as a constitutional lawyer," Cruz said. "So, federal law requires a biometric entry-exit system on visas. The Obama Administration refuses to enforce federal law. As President, I will put that in place, so we will know the day someone overstays their visa, we will be able to send law enforcement to apprehend them and send them home."
Factor Followup
Last Stand for Carson?
Guest: Dr. Ben Carson
Retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson joined The Factor and was asked if it was feasible if he could still win the nomination. Carson said he was still confident he could prevail.

"Well, a lot of things can happen, Bill," Dr. Carson said. "You have to recognize that particularly now that there is only five candidates in the race, it's very possible that we might actually turn to the issues rather than personalities."
Hume Zone
Hume Breaks Down the Candidates
Guest: Brit Hume
With two back-to-back dominating victories in the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries, The Factor asked Brit Hume if Donald Trump is now the inevitable GOP nominee.

"Well, I wouldn't say inevitable, Bill," Hume said. "But certainly -- he is the clear frontrunner. He has the poll position. And it's been opinion shown, I think particularly in these last two states that he has kind of a durable coalition of voters of, you know, somewhere between 30 percent and 40 percent of the Republican electorate or at least the Republican primary electorate that's prepared to come out and vote for him. You know, there is a big difference in the nature of the constituency in New Hampshire and the constituency in South Carolina. And, yet, he did about the same in both. So, he is the man to beat for sure."
Watters' World
FBI vs. Apple
Guest: Jesse Watters
Jesse Watters asked people what they thought about Apple not cooperating with the FBI's attempt to search an iPhone used by San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook.

"Was there anyone that you talked with that had a defense of Apple other than privacy?" The Factor asked.

"No," Watters said. "I mean, I think young people care more about privacy than patriotism."

"Did you believe the woman who said that dead terrorists have a right to privacy?" The Factor asked. "Did you believe her? Or did they just panic and say anything?"

"I think they panic and say anything," Watters said.

Factor Viewers Sound Off
Meredith Baldwin, Mountain House, California: "O'Reilly, thank you for explaining the concept of democratic socialism. I don't think many supporting Bernie Sanders understand it."

Leonor Filardo, Caracas, Venezuela: "Mr. O'Reilly, I adore the Factor. Unfortunately, our government eliminated cable so I have to hear it on the internet."

Brian Taylor, Konia, Cyprus: "Mr. O, I have watched the Factor for years, and it is refreshing to hear a commentator base his opinion on facts, not emotion."
Tip of the Day
Scuba in Turks and Caicos
"One of the few places I can get away from it all is underwater. So, here I am in the Turks Caicos, one of my favorite places on the planet on a scuba expedition. Scuba allows a diver to go underwater. Thirty feet or so without tanks on his or her back hoses attached to a raft on a surface. It's great for kids. They gain confident, have a blast and it's very safe.

"I'd like to thank scuba expert Jody Taylor for a great dive. The turtles were happy to see us. Real turtles not the pop group.

"And if you haven't done scuba, you might like it."
