‘Killing Kennedy’ Is an Instant No. 1 on Hardcover Nonfiction List;

‘Killing Lincoln’ Is Now 55 Weeks on Nonfiction List;

‘Lincoln’s Last Days’ Is No. 1 on Children’s Chapter List



NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2012 – Bill O’Reilly, anchor of the no.1 Fox News program, “The O’Reilly Factor,” and the author of many previous national bestsellers, has an unprecedented three nonfiction books simultaneously on the New York Times Best Seller hardcover lists in the top five spots, it was announced today by Stephen Rubin, president and publisher of Henry Holt and Company. O’Reilly’s new book, “Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot” (Oct. 2, 2012), written with Martin Dugard, became an instant no. 1 bestseller on the Times’s list when it was published earlier this month, and now has more than 2 million copies in print including eBook and audio editions; and is selling at a rate that is more than 60 percent higher for the same sales period than that of “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever” (Sept. 27, 2011). “Killing Lincoln” was also an instant no. 1 bestseller on publication and has been at the top of the Times’s best-seller list for more than a year. It has more than 2.5 million copies in print across all formats. The young readers edition, “Lincoln’s Last Days,” written with Dwight Jon Zimmerman, (Aug. 27, 2012; Henry Holt for Young Readers), is currently no. 1 on the Times’s Children’s Best Sellers Chapter Books list where it has been on the list for eight weeks, with  more than 330,000 in print across all formats.

The three books are the first works of history by O’Reilly who has written many previous no. 1 best-selling books in the categories of memoir and politics including the no. 1 bestseller “A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity.” He is the recipient of many journalism awards including three Emmys. He holds master’s degrees from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and from Boston University. He recently appeared with Jon Stewart, host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, in a mock presidential debate, “The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium,” on Oct. 6, viewed online by millions of people worldwide.
