Many on the fringe left were apoplectic Tuesday night as election results trickled in from Wisconsin. Francesca Hong, the Thanksgiving-hating socialist, lost by a turkey feather in the Democratic gubernatorial primary to slightly-less-radical David Crowley. Other than the candidate herself, perhaps the hardest hit was rich-kid-turned-Marxist Hasan Piker, a familiar face in this election cycle. Piker, of course, is best known for live streaming his profane denunciations of America, Israel, and conservatives. A few of his greatest hits:

‘I would vote for Hamas over Israel every time.’

‘Mao Zedong is one of the great leaders of this world.’

‘I wipe my a** with the Constitution.’

‘America deserved 9/11, dude.’

Despite Piker’s long history of despising America, Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed invited him to hit the campaign trail in Michigan.  El-Sayed won, albeit barely, but it’s impossible to know whether Piker was a net positive.  Far more important to El-Sayed’s victory, he enjoyed the full-throated support of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

One week later came Wisconsin, where Hong was heavily favored to win the Democratic nomination for governor.  Bernie and AOC were wise enough to steer clear of Hong, neither endorsing nor campaigning with her.  But Hasan Piker apparently thought his charm, good looks, profanity, and charisma would help ensure her victory and was by her side.  As late as Monday, Hong was given a 95% chance to win, but she was eked out in the end by the establishment Democrat.  One appearance with Sanders would have probably earned Francesca Hong the nomination, leaving no doubt that Bernie is the single most powerful far-left influencer.  AOC is runner-up, and Hasan Piker is dining on their dust.

What’s next for Hasan Piker, who is licking his wounds and blaming the mainstream media for its coverage of the vanquished Hong?  There are now signs that he is not nearly as influential as he thought. David Crowley, who defeated Francesca Hong, already says Piker is not welcome to campaign with him in Wisconsin.  Another indicator will become abundantly clear in Michigan as Abdul El-Sayed squares off against Republican Mike Rogers in the general election. Republicans are painting El-Sayed as anti-American, a Muslim who hates football, fireworks, and the founders. Thus far, he has not insulted apple pie, but there’s still time.  The last thing he needs is Hasan Piker showing up and spewing invective, so the prediction here is that Abdul El-Sayed will kick Hasan Piker to the curb and won’t be seen within a few thousand miles of him. 

Piker will continue to earn millions by streaming hot takes from his multi-million-dollar home in West Hollywood, mesmerizing young lefties with his subversive diatribes.  But there’s a feeling that Hasan Piker is relegated to being a niche product, someone who can sway votes in districts that are already deep blue, but is the kiss of death in a general election. He loathes America, and most Americans familiar with him loathe him right back.  Put simply, Piker has peaked!
