So Hillary Clinton, really launching today, huh? Wow. But I don’t know who that persuades at this point. I don’t know whether she felt she had to vent or what. Obviously trying to regain momentum, but I’m not sure that’s the right way to do it…you know, that kind of full throated “Trump is a villain,” all of this, I’m not sure.
Americans have pretty well made up their minds whether they’re not going to like or they are going to like Donald Trump. And now it’s about policy and who’s going to do the country the most good. And as we all know, most Americans are voting against rather than for a candidate, according to the polls. And it’s big, it’s about two-thirds voting against rather than for.
Trump was smart to do what he did, trying to put the birther thing…I told him way back, you may remember, this was way back, about June 2015, I said look, the birther thing…because we way back when investigated it and we went to the newspapers because there were birth announcements in the two Honolulu newspapers, The Advertiser and the other one.
You can’t make that stuff up. I mean, you just can’t coordinate that stuff. Who knew that Barack Obama, baby Barack, at that point…it was just one of a million babies, right? So now you’re going to fraud his birth announcement in two major newspapers? It’s impossible.
So then we knew right away this birther thing was crazy, but Trump bought into it for a while, but now he’s smart to get out. Now what this shows you is that whoever is running his campaign—and it’s probably this woman Conway, Kellyanne Conway, probably she is running the show—is imposing discipline on him and the campaign.
He could have come out flailing today, but instead he didn’t. He kept the press away from him and he let the generals endorse him and that was it. He opened his hotel in D.C.
I might stay at that hotel. I’m thinking about it. I’ll give you a review. I’d have to do it surreptitiously though. They’d know when I walk in it was me, but I don’t want them to know I’m coming. You’ve got to figure this out. But that might be fun to do.
Otherwise, ten days for the debate. That’s going to go very fast. Both candidates would be very wise to stay out of any kind of media controversy because you saw what happened today in the hysteria of the birther thing. Even though Trump said “Ok, he was born here,” conceding that he was wrong, they wouldn’t stop. Pound, pound, pound, pound.
I think that folks know. I mean, how ridiculous? It’s only the real zealots that get into that. The folks just turn on dancing or singing, whatever they’re doing on the networks these days…football, are you ready for some football?
