Bernie Sanders, Mamdani, and AOC are not “Democratic Socialists.” In fact, there’s no such thing. You can be a socialist or a communist, but the DS party doesn’t exist and never has in America. The Mugwumps had their day, but no Democratic Socialists.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a flat-out Marxist. He wants to control the means of production in the nation’s largest city. Just last week, Mamdani froze rent hikes. Landlords had no say. The city just did it.

Next on Zohran’s Lenin wish list is food. The mayor will try to regulate how it’s distributed. Regulations will strangle grocery stores, and some will be replaced by city-run food depots. Nothing “democratic” about this. New York City will essentially be run by far-left bureaucrats who will dictate how the free market runs, what you can do, and what you can’t do. Where the food is and where it isn’t.
Mamdani and his Godfather, Senator Bernie Sanders, despise the free marketplace. They believe the “billionaires” control production, exploiting the folks.
Mao, Stalin, Fidel, and Ho all thought the same way. Millions died transitioning to communism. My book “Confronting Evil” chronicles this.
Mamdani doesn’t want vehicles in the city. So the speed limit is now 25 mph. Cameras monitor cars and trucks. An expensive ticket is sent to “speeders.”
That’s city-sanctioned theft.
Everything is taxed. It costs more than $10 just to drive into NYC, and at least $40 to park. Cameras watch at all times.
Want to open a business, Mamdani has to sign off. City “regulations” strangle entrepreneurs. It’s like the mob. The city always gets a “taste.”
But the private property situation is really the communist flash point. Old Bernie and his crew desperately want to impose a national “wealth tax” on private assets. That means if you have accumulated wealth, the government can simply take it away from you through taxation. More bureaucratic theft. The Supreme Court will soon have to rule on this assault on capitalism.
If you know a person who believes the government has a “right” to tax and seize individual assets, that person is a communist. The free marketplace does not limit compensation. A company’s board of directors does. Yes, there is corporate abuse and excess. That’s what is driving neo-communism in our country.

Those who want a centralized economic system run by various governments are sacrificing their own freedom and supporting a police state. There has never been a communist government without one.
There are many foolish people on this planet, and the rise of progressive governance supports that statement.
In New York, Mamdani and his cadre have amassed significant power because of ignorance and apathy on the part of many voters. It looks to me like this trend will have to be confronted by Americans who understand that capitalism provides opportunity while communism certainly does not. Under that system, your life options will be severely curtailed.
That’s what the progressives want: to control your aspirations and success. To me, this is evil. I don’t want my life choices in the hands of Mamdani, Bernie, or AOC.
