The last few days before Christmas, I try to reflect on how life is unfolding. Once again, we are in the fast lane in America because AI is on the march, evil continues to grow, and political hatred dominates Washington and the media.
All of these things will have to be dealt with. Meanwhile, millions of folks are exhausted from the ongoing friction in government and the uncertainty in their own personal situations.
My advice: slow things down. Take each problem separately, don’t overwhelm yourself. Some bad situations actually improve on their own. Others need a plan of action. Come up with one. Brain, pen, paper.
There’s nothing you can do about Putin, Trump, Schumer, the Chinese totalitarians. Stay informed. Don’t let those people directly affect your mental state.
Instead, concentrate on good things - like Christmas, friends, personal generosity. Good can mitigate evil. It just takes mental discipline.
So there you go. My Christmas card to you.
Last column of the year on Sunday.
