Democrats Plumb the Depths

The Afternoon Dispatch is written by BillOReilly.com staff.

Did you hear the one about the Michigan Democratic Party?  Unfortunately, it's not a joke.  The state’s Dems just nominated a fellow named Amir Makled to serve on the University of Michigan Board of Regents.  The nominee has enthusiastically shared posts that praise the terror group Hezbollah and refer to Jews as ‘demons.’ Just imagine how comfortable Jewish students will feel knowing that a virulent anti-Semite will oversee their education.

Elsewhere in the Wolverine State, ultra-radical Abdul El-Sayed is running for the United States Senate and may well will the Democratic primary.  He recently mocked Vice President JD Vance and his Indian-American wife, Usha, for having ‘brown kids.’  El-Sayed also proudly appeared alongside Hasan Piker, the popular and radical podcaster who said 'America deserved 9/11' and praised mass murderer Mao Zedong as a ‘great leader.’  It’s been pointed out that Abdul El-Sayed, as his rhetoric grows more unhinged, keeps rising in popularity among Democrats.

Elsewhere in the party, Senator Chris Murphy and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz paid a visit to a gathering of lefties in Spain, which has embraced anti-Americanism more than any other European nation. Ignoring the adage that ‘politics stops at the water’s edge,’ Murphy and Walz vied to see who could be the most despicable.  The senator declared that President Trump is ‘trying to end our democracy,’ but the governor went beyond that.

‘We’ve got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president,’ Walz screamed, adding the mandatory accusation that Donald Trump is a fascist. Don’t forget, these clowns did this while their nation is embroiled in a war that they seem to want the USA to lose.  Exaggeration?  Well, upon returning home, Senator Murphy came across a post claiming that Iranian ships had evaded the US naval blockade.  His one-word response: ‘awesome.’  Murphy claimed he was engaging in ‘satire,’ but that rings as hollow as he is.

Put simply, the party of JFK and Bill Clinton has become unrecognizable, populated by the likes of Zohran Mamdani, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Jamie Raskin.  The Congressional Progressive Caucus has nearly 100 members, all of them crazed to varying degrees.  What about leadership?  Top Dem Chuck Schumer went on the floor of the Senate to declare that FBI Director Kash Patel is a drunkard.  Schumer was quoting from a hit piece in The Atlantic that relied solely on anonymous sources.

Democrats, once staunch supporters of Israel, have abandoned that nation as their constituents lean into Marxism and Islamism. Last week, 40 Senate Dems voted to block the sale of weapons to Israel, and things are going from atrocious to worse. The newest member of Congress is Democrat Analilia Mejia, winner of a special election in New Jersey. She accuses Israel of ‘genocide,’ demands the abolishment of ICE, and will fit right in with ‘The Squad.’ Hating Israel is now a badge of honor on that side of the aisle, and at least one prominent Jew has had enough.  Famed lawyer Alan Dershowitz just announced that he is a registered Republican after 67 years as a Democrat.  His rationale: ‘The hard left, anti-Israel wing of the Democratic Party has moved from the fringe to the mainstream.’

But most self-described ‘progressives’ are sticking with the Democrats, united largely by a hatred of Donald Trump that supersedes love of country and common sense.  Many modern Democrats will follow their party off a cliff, which is precisely where it seems to be heading.
