Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is out and that is not a surprise.  Ms. Nielsen tried but could not organize an effective defensive strategy on the Mexican border to stop the flood of refugees seeking asylum.

 

President Trump has already declared a State of Emergency at the border in order to secure money to build more barriers.  As part of that Executive Order, Mr. Trump should suspend most asylum applications for 90 days in order to reorganize that department.  If the Feds need more time, the President could extend the suspension.

 

The border intrusion and the illegal immigration problem in general will not improve until Congress passes a sane immigration law, which the democrats do not want to do for political reasons.

 

President Trump should spell the corrupt strategy out so all Americans understand.  That’s the only way to move forward on new, effective laws.

 

It might also help him get re-elected because the “open border” opposition is extreme.
