Do you think it’s possible that the media could pause the Trump-bashing during the last two weeks of this year? Could that ever happen? Just pack it away over Christmas and New Year’s?
Don’t think so.
What would TV news and talk shows do without the President? What would Democrats say? The answer is not much. For his opposition, criticizing Mr. Trump is like crack cocaine. They literally cannot stop doing it.
This week, Saturday Night Live once again opened with James Austin Johnson imitating Trump. Johnson is a brilliant impersonator, but the bit was tedious. We’ve seen it over and over again. SNL doesn’t know what the deuce to do anymore, so it repeats itself, hoping to please the bubble people who can’t get enough Trump-mocking.
So, we all need a break from this. There are many other targets. SNL could open with Putin throwing his advisors out of windows or Congresswoman Omar saying those who criticize Somalis for stealing a billion dollars are racist. Or Chuck Schumer suggesting softer treatment for drug cartels.
You go, Chuck.
Saturday Night Live is 51 years old. I’d like the show to age gracefully. It’s not. Overdoing Trump is now a tired cliche.
Stow it for a while.
See you this evening for the No Spin News.
