There’s no doubt that Donald Trump’s legacy has been hurt this week - and there isn’t anything the President can do to unravel that.
The big mistake that President Trump made was not anticipating that violence could happen when more than 100,000 of his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C.
The President was certainly within his rights to address the crowd and to once again state his grievances over the election. However, he should have tamped down the emotional aspect of his presentation because he should have known after what happened after George Floyd, that violence in this country is becoming increasingly more prevalent. Mr. Trump did not tamp it down.
So, that is what many people and many historians will remember—the violence in his last two weeks. That will override the good he did on the economy, on foreign affairs and other things.
People are emotional creatures, that is what happened this week in Washington, that’s what will happen in assessing Donald Trump’s legacy.
