It is my opinion, and I could be wrong, that the Democrats really don't want to solve violence in America, especially the gun factor.

I base my assessment on what is being proposed by House Democrats. It's essentially small ball. Laws compelling folks to lock up guns and tougher sentences for interstate gun trafficking, those kinds of things. Although Speaker Pelosi talks loudly, she knows the Senate will not vote to ban "assault rifles" or institute a one-sized "red flag" law.

The reason the left isn't putting forth more onerous gun laws is that it knows Republicans are way ahead in the midterm election scenario. Dems think the gun issue, like abortion, might help them on November 8. With inflation raging and a diminished President, that is fantasy. Blaming the GOP for gun violence is a loser.

As I've said before, the only thing that will reign in violent crime involving guns is to federalize all gun crimes with stiff mandatory prison sentences upon conviction.

In New York right now, many criminals are being released without bail when found carrying illegal guns. Can you believe it?

Law abiding citizens have a Constitutional right to protect themselves. But our cowardly Congress continues to aim at them... not the criminal element.
