O'Reilly on the Donald Trump, Jr. "Bombshell"; Glenn Beck Joins
July 11, 2017

Tuesday's screaming headlines focused on Donald Trump Jr. and his meeting last year with a Russian lawyer.  "Donald Trump Jr. is going to federal prison," Bill quipped at the start of the No Spin News, "if you listen to CNN or MSNBC or read the New York Times."

Bill then laid out the known details of the story, which involves the female lawyer, a very eccentric British publicist, Trump campaign aides, and the promise of damaging information on Hillary Clinton.  "There was a meeting in Trump Tower," Bill reported, "but the woman lawyer had no information, no dirt on Hillary.  She was there to do something to lobby about an adoption law."  The lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, told NBC News today that she not working for, nor was she involved with, the Russian government.

Summarizing the salacious story, Bill denounced the media and Democrats for jumping to wild conclusions:  "I'm not shilling for the Trump administration, and if I thought this was a collusion story I would criticize them.  I want Robert Mueller to interrogate everyone at the meeting, but it is so insane what is happening in this country.  It may turn out that Donald Trump Jr. was doing something untoward, but he released the entire email chain and he was just acting like someone who wanted his father to win the election.  The one thing he did wrong is that he didn't put this information out earlier."

For a far different take on the story, Bill welcomed his regular verbal sparring partner Glenn Beck.  "You missed a few facts that change things for me," Beck announced.  "Donald Trump Jr. released this email chain only after the New York Times called him.  And what you're missing on your timeline is that the day he met with this lawyer is the same day that Donald Trump started to talk about the missing Hillary Clinton emails.  Also, that same day they started to write a speech about 'crooked Hillary' and her involvement with a foreign government.  That's an odd coincidence."

Beck continued with his searing indictment of the Trump campaign:  "It's illegal to meet with foreign nationals who are going to give you anything of value, and there is value in dirt on your political opponents.  That is part of our campaign finance laws.  Donald Trump Jr. gladly accepted the meeting and this email chain blows me away, it is really concerning.  There is no evidence of collusion, but there is evidence that Donald Trump Jr. was at least willing to collude.  He has gone on for a year allowing his father to say that we never met with anyone from Russia.  He put his father in the position of being blackmailed."

Bill reminded his friend that law professor Jonathan Turley and other legal experts thoroughly disagree with Beck's assessment.  "In a court of law this does not rise to anything," Bill insisted, "because no money was exchanged and no information was exchanged.  There was nothing wrong with it, but you are putting forth the worst possible scenario.  At this point there is no crime but the hysteria is at a crescendo.  The media, in their quest to destroy Donald Trump, has gone over into the propaganda area."  Bill reiterated that the American people deserve all the facts and that Robert Mueller should talk with everyone involved.

As they wound down their spirited discussion, Beck and Bill agreed that they totally disagree about this issue and the significance of Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting.  They'll resume their discussion Friday morning on Glenn Beck's The Blaze Radio.

Bill then turned to the news that there has been a precipitous drop in arrests at the Mexican border.  "Donald Trump's hard line on immigration," he stated, "is stopping the mass inflow of illegal immigrants.  Arrests are down by two-thirds from last year, which is amazing.  That's without the wall or anything else."

Finally, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is keeping the Senate in session for an additional two weeks in August, cutting into their traditional five-week recess.  "This is really do-or-die for the Republican Party," Bill declared, "and they had better get something done on health care.  Tax reform has been pushed off into the fall."

Because the conversation with Beck ran longer than planned, the usual email segment was not included Tuesday.  Instead, there will be an extended email segment Wednesday, so write in with your questions and opinions about the Beck interview or anything else.  Laura Ingraham will also be here with her always-interesting thoughts, so check back Wednesday evening for another edition of No Spin News.
