Bill O'Reilly: Bill's Message of the Day

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, all 7-foot-4 of him, stood with his arms crossed during the National Anthem on Wednesday night. Nobody knows why because Vic isn’t saying, but it’s become a big deal in some precincts.

It isn’t. Unless tall Victor wanted to show disrespect.

But why would he do that? The 23-year-old is making millions in America, money he would not be accumulating in Europe. He’s lucky to be here.

Does Mr. Wembanyama understand that? I don’t know.

I do know that radical left coach Gregg Popovich is still associated with the Spurs. But it’s a leap to say he’s got anything to do with Victor’s posture during the anthem.

It is common these days for professional athletes to incorporate political beliefs into their day jobs. I have mixed feelings on that. The Constitution is on their side, but respect for the paying customer is not. I think it’s safe to say that thousands of folks paid good money to see Victor Wembanyama play basketball, not wax poetic on the American political system.

Let’s leave that to Springsteen and DeNiro.

So, I am pronouncing Victor innocent of disrespect until other facts emerge. That’s the American Way. Due process. Arms crossed or not.
