Voting on Emotion
September 26, 2022
Here's the question every American should be asking: how did the U.S. economy go from low inflation, low unemployment, and rising wages to the verge of a severe recession in less than two years?

The economic stats are grim, the stock market is tottering, and the Biden administration continues to blame Putin, Covid, and Donald Trump.

Fools may buy that, but most Americans will not. Nevertheless, Democrats remain competitive in the upcoming November vote if you believe the polls.

I don't believe them. However, there is no doubt in my mind that millions of voters will cast ballots for the party that is hurting them.

It all goes back to folks believing what they want to believe, regardless of reality. We all know people like this; they will never adjust their thinking.

Routinely, I interact with some liberal Americans and often ask them about Joe Biden's failures. One of them recently said to me: "nobody likes Biden. But Trump and the Republicans are worse."

Not if you are talking about economic prosperity. Not if you're speaking about illegal immigration. And what about the awful rise in violent crime fueled by "progressives."

In the end, most Americans on both sides vote their emotions. And that is becoming increasingly dangerous.
