This Thursday, I am thinking about a contagion that is hitting the nation’s college campuses, hard. And it has nothing to do with Covid.
No, this illness is a mental malady that I call virtue-itis. It is extremely contagious and malevolent. Students, beware!
According to reporting by law professor Jonathan Turley, a number of college administrators and professors have caught virtue-itis.
Turley quotes a Northwestern Law school Dean who opened a diversity event by saying: “I’m Jim Speta and I am a racist!”
Another Northwestern official, Emily Mullin, topped that by saying: “I am a racist and a guardian of white supremacy. I will work to do better."
Well, that’s nice, Emily, self-improvement is a positive thing. But perhaps you might want to improve in another area - stop being a pinhead for the sake of Northwestern students who pay a ton of money to attend the school.
If Speta and Mullin are indeed racists, they should resign immediately and go to rehab.
But please enough of this insane everybody’s a racist stuff. LeBron James might dig it but most Americans don’t.
Cease and desist, as they say in law school, with the virtue-itis. Please.
See you tonight starting at 6 eastern for the No Spin News.
