A national debate is underway about whether the USA should build a strong barrier to make it more difficult for Mexican criminals to smuggle narcotics and poor people into America.
The answer to that question is, of course, yes. Anything that will slow down destructive actions should be considered worthy especially if cost is the only downside.
A new online poll by The Hill says Americans are divided over the wall prospect. The survey of 1,000 registered voters puts support for the wall at 34 percent, opposed 31 percent and want a different kind of border security 35 percent.
The last category is perplexing. If there was another crime inhibitor at the border, it would have been tried by now. More border patrol agents and immigration judges will not solve this problem.
The BP agents themselves overwhelmingly support a border barrier according to surveys taken by their union. But I guess 35 percent of Americans know better than those people actually working on the border.
Those who outright oppose the wall, simply don’t want stringent control of the southern border for whatever the reason.
It is a sad fact that criminal cartels control much of Mexico and do great damage to that country and to the United States. The Nancy Pelosis and Chuck Schumers of the world apparently don’t care as they have no solutions. Senator Schumer has flip-flopped on the wall showing a craven indifference to public safety.
America has a duty to defend its citizens from harm, even if some do not particularly want to be defended. Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco district is ravaged by narcotics from Mexico. The Congresswoman has no solution to that fact and is content with doing nothing to alleviate the horror of hundreds of addicted individuals causing daily mayhem.
Nancy fiddles, while San Francisco burns.
