Epstein mania is sweeping the country. As you may know, the House voted 427 to one in favor of releasing Justice Department data on the now-dead sex offender. The lone dissenting vote was a Texas guy who apparently doesn’t have cable TV. Now, the legal petition will go to the Senate, where it will pass as well. Then, President Trump will sign the legislation.
So what, you may ask? Well, a new Morning Consult poll says that 60 percent of the American public believes Donald Trump was in cahoots with Epstein or something.
The released data most likely will not crystallize anything, but it won’t matter because people believe what they want to believe. Facts have little relevance in a time of unbridled social media, where standards do not exist.
I know you’ve heard it before, but if President Trump did anything untoward in conjunction with Epstein, the Biden White House would have released it faster than Hunter Biden could cash a check.
Nevertheless, the hysteria will play out, and even if nothing is revealed by the “files,” folks will hold on to their notions.
Another vivid example of fair play disappearing in the land of the free. And be assured, that will come back to haunt us.
