It was sad for the country to see the former FBI Director trash the President of the United States on national television as being “morally unfit” to hold the office. In return, Donald Trump lashed out at Mr. Comey saying he should be in prison for leaking confidential information.
At this point, the battle lines are drawn. The President fired James Comey because he did not trust that he would be fair in the Russian-collusion investigation. Comey did not take that humiliation well, believing that he was conducting an honest probe.
So, he signed a lucrative book deal in order to humiliate Trump. This is all about payback. If Comey had not been dismissed, he would not be saying these things. If Donald Trump is so reprehensible and dishonest, Comey should have resigned. Right?
Meanwhile, the country suffers because the Trump administration is constantly on the defensive fighting battles that have nothing to do with policies that help the people. Unfortunately, things are coming to a head as the hate-Trump movement, which includes most of the national press, senses blood in the water.
But if you step back and examine the situation without emotion, it is clear that at this point there is no evidence that President Trump tried to use Russian assets during the election campaign. James Comey knows that which is why he did not accuse Mr. Trump of so called collusion. If the FBI or Robert Mueller have solid evidence against the President, Comey would be spreading it - at least by innuendo.
That’s not to say the Russian thing is over, it’s not. What happens with Mr. Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, is vital for the President. Already attorney-client privilege has been breached after the FBI raid on Cohen’s office, as another man’s confidential situation was leaked to the press causing him grave damage.
